Hi. I just picked up the whitetail surge 50 which is an ozonic machine for a tote or enclosed area that you run at home. Just looking for honest opinions of hunters who actually own ozonics hr 350 or 200. Does the unit actually work. Would you recommend it? Can you recommend a place i can purchase it.
YES ozone DOES WORK!
I own 2 Ozonic units both HR200's I have seen ozone work numerous times. IMO before I bought any more high priced hunting accessories I would buy an ozone unit first.
Common sense and good hunting skills will get you closer to most animals BUT the addition of ozone sure can help.
If price is an issue then there are ways to make your own units for less then $100.
Personally I've never used one, but one guy I hunt with swears by his. Does he have more successful hunts? Yes. Can we both agree that it was the ozonic unit? Debateable.
I've been on the fence (For about two years) waiting / hoping to see if the price will ever drop , but I'm intrigued by what SK33T3R says about being able to get the unit for under $100, definitely hope he shares his knowledge on this, would definitely look into it more seriously.

I picked up a whitetail purge for 60 bucks off eBay but am looking for a unit in the field too. The ozonics unit are nice but rich at 500. This scent lok enforcer is 129.99 at wildtv so I may purchase it. I read the sniffing dog test and the two units that had success where the whitetail purge 50 and ozonics units. you need a small box to position this plate and a 12v computer fan. you need to blow air over this plate and out comes the ozone.
I'm sure you guys can figure out different layouts. just look at the ozonics units.
A 5Ahr 12 v sealed lead acid battery in a packsack with long leads will be all the power you'd need.
My cheapskate neighbour has built 3 so far (with my help of course) I have two hr200's so I have not built one for me ... YET!

I agree 100%, but obstickables like lakes,roads or clear cut stops the big Bears from circling you down wind. The wind changes,I leave and hunt another bait,or go home. Only 15 minutes away.Quote:

This has been a great thread. So much great information that i picked up a scentlok enforcer. 146 bucks. Works for your clothes and can be used in the field. I believe these units will avoid with scent busts that happen and you never even know.

Are there any health risks to using this in a blind or for drinking water?
How do you power the 110V units in a blind?
The scentloc unit is rechargeable. Not sure about health risks. I plan to attach the unit to my tree stand facing down wind so i do not breath any in or just use it to treat my clothes or use it all if i have the wrong wind and have the unit in the front of the blind if my wind is blowing that way. I've actually had deer feeding in a food plot downwind and the battery run out and they winded me quickly afterwards
the amount of deer I see coming from downwind is pretty crazy now

Did anyone use their Ozonics during this spring bear season?
I was curious if it reduced the bugs in any way.
Mosquitos use your body heat and other gaseous (CO2 I think) bodily secretions to find you.
I was wondering if the ozone affected them. I sure hope so!
I had nine deer in a food plot downwind for about an hour. some we under 15 yds. I just sat there amazed because this is NOT supposed to happen. ALL of a sudden one whipped up it's head and took off. The rest looked at her like she was nuts. Then within seconds a few heads spun around and faced towards me. Off they went! WTF?! The Ozonics just died. I now had another Ozonics moment! HAH!Quote:

I've used both units extensively but not together. Since my bear hunts have all been fall hunts for 15 yrs bugs are not too much of a concern. But I would not hesitate to use both in a spring condition.
I hunted a lot of springs before the spring hunt was shut down and got by with permethrin and duct tape. never, ever got bit hunting. Only at camp lazing around have a beer or two. careless I guess!
Going up next week to start 5 baits ... mosquitos will be bad and deer flies will be worse! Yikes!
That scent lok enforcer seems too small to me to be effective in an open environment like a treestand. Probably ok in a ground blind I run a scent purge in my hunting closet the night before i hunt. Then I trust my Ozonics unit in the field. Just bought the newest one.Quote:
