Where in Ottawa is a good place to get outboard motor parts for older machines?
If not in a big rush try your local UAP/NAPA store.
Ask to see the marine catalogue.
If in the Canadian warehouse about 3 days.
If in the US warehouse expect about 3 weeks.
A lot of the guys I know deal with Hurst Marina on River road, they have some excellent mechanics and are surprisingly cheap for a 'dealership'.

How old of a motor?
If you want to search yourself, you can try these guys:

But can they get you the parts ?
You might also call 'Pirate Cove Marine' on River Road....

I will try them Monday. Have to find an Impeller and a fuel pump. The outboard is working but something doesn't seem right. At one point I had hot water coming out then it cooled down and then at one point it also didn't seem to be getting gas correctly. Might have to order form the US and get them sent special delivery need to get them ASAP to take with us for the July 1'st trip. I see how to replace it and can always do it on the trip since I carry all the tools.
I'm having breakfast with a buddy who might now where you can get help, I'll ask him for some names.
What make/model are you having problems with ?
I have a 1974 Mercury (Thunder Bolt Blue) 7.5 out
board. Impeller kit as well as the parts for the fuel
pump. Serial 7076940 (Pretty sure it is the same as
3801458 thru 4691221)
So here is what it was doing a few times it lost prime for no reason and was extremely difficult to start and being an old engine there is potential for an issue with the fuel pump as well a couple of times it didn't pee very well in fact it actually stopped and when it finally started again it was very hot. Considering the parts are probably around 50 bucks in total feel safer having them as the tear down and replacement isn't difficult and is something I can easily do on the road. I actually carry most of the tools need in my tackle box in case I had to ever fix my old Ted Williams.
Seems to be running OK now been running in the barrel for for an hour set at slow. I should have bought an Evinrud like my gut told me.
MikePal if you buddy has those parts or knows where to get them still let me know. Have to try and get them before June 30. We have our Backup motor Teddy if the engine suffers a complete melt down. The ole Sears Ted William never lets me down just very slow loud noisy engine
I spoke with my buddy his morning and he recommend trying Pirate Cove or Kemptville Marine...which is north of Kemptville on River road towards Pirate Cove.
He said that KM is probably your best bet, the guy is apparently really good.

you could give these guys a call as well, they have a mercury graveyard in the west end

Thanks Wilson I will check them out.
try this, I recommend it: http://www.themarinedoctor.com/
So the old Merc worked OK while we were away. I did buy the parts but couldn't get them until we got back. Still havent decided if I will keep it or not. We do have one issue that we knew about earlier and that is water gets into the gear oil and we also notice that some gear oil leaks from the vent anyone know what seals that would be?
Let me guess, a thunderbolt? The black and blue one from the late 70's? I have a 7.5 and it might as well be an anchor - that thing leaves me stranded all the time. I don't have issues with the seals leaking, so I can't help you with this one.
If you do have this merc, I'd sell it and find something a little newer.

GW, if it's losing it's prime it could be the check ball in you gas line (after the squeeze ball). It's built into the squeeze ball. Buy a new gas line/replace the squeeze ball and that should do it.
