After having a pelee hunt on my list for a few years it looks like this year is going to be the year to do it. Does anybody have any suggestions or reviews for any of the bed and breakfasts or the two camp grounds on the island?

You need to make sure you can get a spot on the ferry before booking hunt accommodations.
I've stayed at the camp ground. It's nice enough and the staff were friendly. It's ground zero for the release and don't be surprised to have people actually walking right through your site and firing at birds six feet from your tent or trailer. Seriously....
Don't even think about going unless you have permethrin spray for all your clothes. Deet spray does nothing. Filthy with lyme positive ticks. Check your dog every night for ticks if you bring one.
I thought the Lyme problem was on Point Pelee, not Pelee Island. Can anyone clarify this?
I hunted Pelee once and also just spent a week there this summer with no tick encounters.
I visit the island frequently, all year round, and do the first 3 hunts, if anything, the tick problem is less than the mainland, Pt Pelee national park is tick infested
Had a friend work for BSC (Bird Studies Canada) who would not go to any of the nine area islands without duct taping the cuffs of his pants, shirts, then spraying his coveralls and boots with permethrin. Both Pelee and Middle Island were bad, as was the main land at the point. The nymphs are the ones you've got to worry about, as they do most of the disease transmission. They are barely visible to the eye. He'd get his wife to check his scalp every night, behind the ears, under armpits. Even after all this, he was still on Doxy regime three times in two field seasons on the island.
My dog picked up a black legged deer tick on Pelee island a few years back. I pulled it off with a tick key with no issue. I hunted there last fall and none of the four dogs or five hunters picked up a tick.
I have hunted Pelee for many years with numerous hunters and dogs and have never ever encountered a tick.
Ticks are not an issue on the island
Neither the dog or 3 hunters picked any when I last hunted and I spent a week there this summer with none either. I don't consider Pelee a bad spot. Many much worse spots on mainland.
The Deer ticks need access to deer as part of their life cycle, so that may be why there aren't a lot of deer ticks on Pelee Island? I haven't seen any deer there on several trips.
