Looking for a high lumen (500+), multi mode, rechargeable LED flashlight.
Anyone found a really good one? I tried a couple cheapies (Mastercraft and Rayovac) for $40-$60 and wasn't impressed. They're not bright enough and the batteries, though claiming to be good for 500+ and 750+ charges, performance start to noticeably suffer after just a dozen charges.
I'm looking for something stellar, and willing to pay the $$$ for it.

Every guy I hunt with has one now and guys I've only met once have asked me to order them one. The batteries they come with should be kept as spares as they are crap. Replace them with quality ones and you'll never look back. I have Tenergy and they are good for 4-5 hours easy.
I don't think you'll find anything brighter in stores, I haven't. This is also durable, mine took 2 trips to the bottom of the lake, the only way I could find it was because the light kept shining.
You won't regret the purchase....
My son who works HVAC uses this one everyday. He also used it walking in out of the bush. I was blown away on how bright and long lasting it is. He bought it on Amazon.

I don't have much experience in the 500+ lumens category, sorry. But, if you find something that works with AA or AAA batteries, I'd highly recommend Eneloop rechargeable NiMH batteries. Google their reviews. You can order them online from Costco without a membership and get free shipping. I've had great luck with them, and if you have a bunch charged up you never have to wait for something to recharge.
Try this one from amazon.ca.....I know have 3 of them throughout the house and they are great for hunting & traveling...compact but VERY bright with different setting...had Fenix before but IMHO these are much better!

There's lots of options out there. Will just give you my personal experience with 2 of them.
1st has already been linked (Boruit). 300Sniper, glad yours works they are extremely bright. Many don't. They are cheap because they are they are cheaply made. Mine won't turn off unless I remove a battery, many other people have issues with the multi modes. 10 minutes googling them............I knew that ( its like a box of chocolates) going in, figured I roll the dice.

After giving up on the Boruit (got tired of putting the battery in/out to turn on/off) M I bought a genesis from Sail. No complaints, it works as advertised. Allowed me to pick up channel markers 200, 300,400 yards away when heading out to the duck blind in the dead of night.

For the price it might be worth rolling the dice, no complaints with it, they are super bright. But the QA surrounding the on/off and multi mode button is common. Not sure I want to spend on some of the $300+ Fenix and EagTac models, etc... but certainly there are some great looking units out there in the $80-$200 range.
No interest in rechargeable AAs anymore. I've spent a fortune on them and have never found a charger, or batteries that function as I expect them to for the $$$ charged.Quote:

My LED Lenser uses rechargeable AAA batteries, but in 2 years of limited use I have never had to charge them, was about $50.

It outperformed my 2 cell Mag lights with LED bulbs by a long margin, I did a 'test' of the two side by side across a lake and the LED Lenser illuminated so much more that the mag light on or off made no difference when the LED Lenser was on. I now use my mag lights for a fish bonker.

I in turn just ordered one for myself and a couple more for family and friend. I honestly think that word of mouth is the only way these things get sold. My friend says that he now knows 4 guys that own them, everyone is happy with their purchase.

I too have a 1000 lumen nitecore about $100.00 I use it daily and its extremely bright. I also have a Klarus 2000 lumen (about $150.00) it's too bright to use a work so it on my hunting pack. Both great lights and very durable thus far.Quote:

When I got my first one I was blown away. brightest little compact flashlight I ever seen. Fantastic for tracking a blood trail at night.

So cheap I don't even fret if I lose it. I ordered 6 more after the initial purchase. I bet I've ordered over 60 so far. 6 at a time! I have one everywhere. Hunting accessory, tackle box, car, truck, junk drawer. My kids have a few also. I was selling these for $5 at Tims to all the other old farts. I threw in free batteries too. Some wanted it for walking their dogs after night. They got their own chargers!
All my 18650 batteries were free! Salvaged from laptop batteries. I did need to buy a good charger - a nitecore.
I have since almost totally cut the umbilical cord from the battery manufacturers.
All my game cameras (10+) run on free 18650's now. 8 to 12 AA batteries (depends on game camera) are now replaced by three 18650 for 12v requirements or by 2 for 6v. I use 30 sec video so AA batteries were taking a beating!
My bear call lure sprayers - all on 18650. I also have 3 (under $10) headlamps.
Now I walk through Costco and go right past the battery displays. Unreal how many batteries I used to buy!
Bear hunting I had 16 AA batteries at each bait site. (Camera 12 sprayer 4). most sites I run 2 cameras! so 28 AA total! Running videos I was lucky to get 2 weeks. 6 weeks baiting and 84 batteries.
We have 6 bait sites total 500 AA batteries.
The money I save covers gas for 2 baiting trips. WOW!

I'm always looking for a reasonably decent flashlight but my issue is I lose about 3 of them a year so those knock-off cheapies seem right down my alley.
Are you using the external battery port on your trail cams, or do you shoehorn the 18650's inside them?
Did you tried lithium Batteries... I use in Mag light AA batteries no recharge use same for GPS

I know this thread is two years old and this light was probably not available at the time but the Browning Stoke fits all the criteria. It's rechargable, under $80 and 1,000 lumen. It's become my go-to flashlight on our farm. It has an adjustable bezel which is very handy, three power levels and best of all NO strobe which I loathe on a flashlight. My only complaint is the tail cap is a little touchy but most often I just use the highest level which comes up first.

One MagLite product that is still worth considering is the 310 lumen Mag Tac Plain Bezel. Three modes: one press of tail cap is momentary, two quick presses is full power, three quick presses for low mode. It's not rechargeable and requires CR123. My one small issue with the light is the pocket clip which is absolute crap.Quote:

I have a Fenix PD35 with two sets of rechargeable batteries - this thing works amazing.

Fenix pd36R , its compact and light weight. Throws a ton of light , has various light outputs and great battery light. It’s rechargeable . You can also buy a spare battery if needed

I bought a 1 million candle power rechargeable off of Amazon for $50
not giving it much hope but I was seriously wrong. It lasts a long time, it's extremely bright, I've beat the snot out of it, only downfall is you could probably anchor a boat with it
Yep i have a Dewalt light that runs off my flex 20/60 volt battery. Bright as hell and runs forever off my 9 amp-hour battery but big and bulky.Quote:

i got this thing years ago, the most amazing head lamp ive ever gotten. comes with 2 A batteries not AA single A and rechargeable cord.
put it this way, i can light up a massive field without a issue, you can dial the light to be a single beam or you can widen it. honestly if this thing ever breaks i dont think ill ever find anything to replace it.
