How old do my daughters have to be before they can hunt? I'd like to start them as early as possible with a crossbow with me. Just want to know legal age.
Thanks

Hunting is 12. If you want them to start with guns on their own there own asap, there's a few hoops to jump through with the RCMP.
From 12-15 years old they can hunt as an apprentice
At 15 they can get their full hunting licence with parental consent.
Actually at 12 year old individuals can be mentored with a firearm, if they take the Canadian Firearm Safety course and successfully pass the exam. They may not purchases a firearm until they get their PAL at 18, but may apply for a Minor's Licence at 15, which is good until their 18th birthday. Unlike the PAL where they send you a reminder notice as it comes due for renewal. They don't send you any reminder notice when the Minor's Licence is due to expire, so you need to remember to apply for the PAL about 3 months ahead of the 18th birthday. If a Minor's Licence has been applied for you will have sent in one copy of the two Student Record forms mailed back to the student from the Chief Firearm Office. The RCMP keeps this on file so you don't need to send in the second copy when applying for the PAL. There is a place on the PAL form to indicate one has already been sent in when the Minor's Licence was applied for. It's important not to misplace or loose that second copy of the Student Record form, it's prove you have completed the Canadian Firearm Safety course, and you shouldn't have to do it again unless ordered so by a judge, should you run afoul of the law. Hope this helpful info.
You don't stop hunting because you grow old. You grow old because you stop Hunting
