There used to be classified papers around, like the Tri-Ad or Buy and Sell, that you could advertise almost anything including firearms. Kijiji and Craig's list seem to have shut them down but don't allow firearms sales.
Are there trustworthy sites like these where an individual can buy or sell these?

With access to a Canadian Market..... Google may be your best friend....
If you can't find a good priced used one, there usually is some retailer in Canada offering a good deal on a new one, on-line researching and being patient can pay off .
I've seen tons of ads on Google but when it comes to things like firearms wasn't sure who's legit.
Call me old school, conspiracy theorist, curmudgeon, Ron Swanson wannabe etc - I don't trust Google.

I know most companies have a site. I was thinking more of sites like Craigslist or Kijiji for individuals wanting to buy/sell

I prefer CGN. They have a rating system for buyers and sellers.
I don't trust the internet to sell anything. CGN seems to have a lot of complaints on their forums of late. I think the scammers have found a target-rich environment where people seem to throw caution to the wind relying on their "trader" rating system as the be-all-end-all. I think it's a risky mistake. I like to put an ad in the local paper and do face-to-face deals with cold,hard cash. I make sure to ask for a PAL from the get-go with excellent results. It seems to weed out the scammers and tire kickers. I've tried to use this site,too,and got some really different responses without results.
I've both bought and sold on CGN, without any issues. No one said a trader rating system is the "be-all-end-all" but it certainly weeds the field a bit.Quote:

Go ahead and pay your money to advertise in the "local paper" and do F2F deals if that's your choice. But most stuff I've bought and sold have happened in the space of time that it would have taken the newspaper to go to print.
Newspaper???? Whats that???...At least that is what the kids are saying now days LOL. Some local or not so local gun clubs carry classifieds...most want you to be a member to sell but not for buying. Look around the web, there used to be a site that listed all the canadian gun clubs by listing and if they had a website. Good Luck.
Sending personal information and money with account info on it to nameless,faceless people on an internet forum when there's really no way to verify they are who they say they are or what their intentions may be,to me,is counter-intuitive. No doubt,there's many folks,like you,who have never had an issue,but,from what I've read on some of the threads, I think I'll stick to the tried and true,even as risky as that may be,at times. Canadiangunnutz.com is the most tustworthy site in Canada for selling firearms. It has a user rating system which only forum members can use meaning the person can't easily rig their "trader rating".
Ive also bought and sold on this forum, but have been more selective due to the lack of a rating system in the buy and sell. Ive only sold to those with a high post count for example. I also insist on in person final sales, I dont ship. Given that it is firearms, I meet the buyer in a relatively public area too.
I use Gunnutz regularly. Sold a BLR last month and bought a Marlin Guide gun yesterday. I will not do business with anybody who won't do an EMT. That way the money is in my bank account before I ship. The history rating is very reliable as you can contact everybody they have done business with. Safer than face to face actually. Won't get mugged by the lady at the post office who hands you your package. Some stranger who meets you somewhere? My trader rating has 45 transactions 100% positive ratings.

One of the guys in our group who is also a member of OOD and I hope he will chime in. He purchased a rifle off a western hunting forum and paid with EMT. He never received the rifle or got his money back even after filing a police report. I deal with CGN and use the ratings as a guide and so far have had 99% good dealings. EMT is very easy and should be a must learn for anyone doing anything associated with buying or selling online. The money is in the bank account of the seller almost instantly.Quote:
