cgn alert - m94 375 win big bore

On CGN - a bit pricey, but a nice rifle.

Top eject Model 94 Big Bore in .375 Winchester for sale. Rifle has a handful of rounds through it and is in MINT condition - could pass as new. Rifle has special Williams 'Big Bore' receiver sight installed, but will include in sale the original rear sight and front hood too. Also included in sale: 50 once-fired brass, 212 ct. Hornady 220 gr. InterLock projectiles (discontinued), and a set of new LEE reloading dies. For local sale I have 18 rounds of Winchester 200 gr factory ammo. Will pull components to ship otherwise.

This is an excellent and powerful timber rifle for big game. This rifle is marked "Winchester Repeating Arms" and would be one of the last Model 94 'Big Bore' rifles made by them before they sold to U.S.R.A.C. Afterward, all Big Bore 94s were made with the cross bolt safety, etc.

Sweet rifle but I just picked up a JM stamped Stainless Guide gun in 45-70 this week :tongue:. Figured it was time to own one. Very sweet rig.

Not to derail but what year is the JM? and how does the fit/finish compare to the current crop of Remlins? And although none of my business (so fell free to tell me it's none of my business) - where did you find the JM and what's the ball park value?

A 45-70 is the next item on my acquisitions list.

A .45-70 XLR is next on my list - but they are pretty hard to come by.

There are actually 3 Marlin 45-70's on Gunnutz right now. Not XLR though.

Sort of hung up on the XLR. I've got a .444 XLR and I like it a lot more than the regular models.

I had 2 Remlins. A 45-70 and a 44 mag both were disappointing to say the least. I had an older Marlin 30-30 built in the 70s and it was a real gem but I gave it to a good friend when he got his hunting license. I still wanted a 45-70 so I bit the bullet and picked up a Ruger #1 and am I ever glad I did as she is a Beautiful and very accurate well balanced rifle.
If you cant find an older Marlin I would highly recommend the Ruger or perhaps an older Browning Lever ( buddy has the 44 mag and loves it) . Something to think about anyway.

I bought a new 1895G in early 2015. The fit and finish is excellent and it functions well so far. The only thing it doesn't like to cycle is the Hornady Leverevolution as the case length is a bit shorter and the gummy tip wants to catch before chambering. I have around 4 boxes of shells through it so far and have carried if for two deer seasons. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to shoot at a deer with it yet but I've loaded and unloaded it quite a bit over those weeks with no issues.

If you decide to go new just hand pick yours from a store rather than ordering.

The action still feels pretty "new" compared to my older lever guns but I think it will smooth out with use.

Oh and I should add that it's pretty accurate with everything I have tried in it so far. I managed about a 2" group at 100 yards with peep sights and 405 grain CoreLokts.
