Not sure about the troy-built/poulan saws. But Stihl has had easy-2-start feature on various models for years. 2 slows pulls to build tension, and a third slow pull and it starts, apparently. IMO, I can't see why anyone physically capable of cutting firewood would need this feature though. But who knows, perhaps time will change my opinion on that.
I inherited a husky rancher 55 from my dad. He just doesn't have the juice to pull it anymore. The stihl easy 2 starts are nice when you get alittle older/wiser:). Haven't tried the Troy builts easy start system, but I'm sure it works well.
Sounds like the "olden" days when you would give the kick start a couple of gentle stokes to build compression and then jump on it to start the older BSA's Triumphs and Nortons. I realize the mechanical concepts are different now.
try googling the product, all I could find is that Troy chain saws are built by MTD. products.
I would agree with that for sure. I've never heard of it before so I looked it up. https://www.stihlusa.com/products/te...gy/easy2start/
I guess it might be handy for some but the day I can't pull start my saws like normal would be the day I pack it in . Looks like just one more thing to break or wear out but I'd have to see how well made it is to know for sure.
Cheers
We have 2 Stihl models like that at work, takes a bit to get used to the feature. On the good side, if you have a screwed up back/shoulder, it's one part of the body you won't stress.

Not ready to pack it in yet, even with some bone cancer but I would like to have a useable chain saw with me on the tractor and bike. Since it is made by Stihl it should be ok.
Not a fan of MTD or Poulan though.
In my opinion as a arborist. The easy start and tooless tensioner is just somethings else to break. I would suggest getting a saw with decompression.
Found a 2nd hand top handle Stihl 009 so we took it outside to try it. After a dozen pulls I gave it to the salesman. He tried it, then took it back to the service Dept. My 026 starts easier.
Looked at new saws at Home Depot. Instructions said to prime 6-8 times, pull over 6-8 times, release choke, pull over another 6-8 times, then start over. No one in that department knew where to take it for service.....
