More great stuff! Any particular reason none of the hunters have their bow or rifle in the picture with them? Just curious because personally I always like the firearm (or bow) that was used to be in the photo as well.
Very neat. I also wonder why no pics with the guns....
No particular reason for the absence of firearms in the pics above, this group just preferred it this way. I would agree that most hunters add the firearm or bow in.

Sorry but you lost me at Baboon.
A highly intelligent primate that lives in a complex social system with many other baboons.
What's the point of killing one?
Not a wall mount, I hope.
Does any one eat them?
Johny, Baboons are considered pests throughout parts of South Africa. They are numerous and cause significant crop damage and damage to buildings and facilities, especially thatched roofing etc. They would be considered varmits by our standards just like coyotes (except they cause way more damage). They have to be managed like all other game animals. They are not eaten. Some hunters do keep the skulls for a mount similar to a black bear skull mount and I have seen some mounted. All in all, left unchecked they can cause serious problems to farms and buildings.
Sounds like you definitely do not know anything about baboons and the damage and havoc they cause, intelligent to an extent, but talk to people that are from there or been there and have seen it, and you will change your mind.
Also sounds like you have been reading too many stories put out by PETA groups .

Nice animals. KMG, do these animals go to locals, what becomes of the meat from your game?
canadaman30, some of the meat is served in the lodge to our hunters. Some is then consumed by our own staff and workers. Some is turned into biltong (South African style jerky). Anything left after that is sold into market. In South Africa game meat can be purchased in the supermarket much like we would buy beef or chicken. The animals on your land are your property unlike here. This system encourages land owners to keep game for trophy hunting (income for the hunt) and selling of the meat (income from meat sales). This system can make it more profitable to keep your land wild, rather than domesticate it for sheep and cattle.
Cool thanks for sharing KMG. Great photos

Rob I love seeing your post's.
What would you consider to be the most challenging hunt of all species you have posted pic's of.
Big Gunner, I would have to say (if limited to just the pics in the post above) baboon would be one of the hardest. They have great eyesight and tend to keep a watchful eye out over the troop at all times. Baboons actually wreck perfectly executed stalks on plains game animals by sounding the alarm should you get to close. Most baboons are taken while out hunting something else. Targeting baboons by walk and stalk with no baiting is quite challenging.
For me though, one of the toughest hunts I had was a Barbary Sheep I hunted in South Africa. The mountain terrain combined with their sharp eyesight made it a very difficult hunt. You want to be in shape before you do that one, much like any mountain hunt I suppose.

Skull, very nice skull mount. The canines are incredible and usually longer than a lion's canines. Where did you get this one?

Rob - really appreciate you posting your photos. Love looking at them
My favorites are the Sables. Beautiful animals.
Love the picture of the Jack Russells climbing over the one in the water. Spunky little fellas.
Would 30-06, 7mm mag., 300 win mag be enough for most of those animals or do you need more?
What would be the most common caliber your clients bring over?
Thanks again. Really enjoy your posts.
Thanks Roper, those calibers above would all be great for a plains game hunt and are typical of what we see brought over with our hunters. I usually tell our hunters that if dangerous game isn't on the menu that a .270 and up will do fine. As for a most common caliber that would be tough as we see all kinds as the hunters come from Canada, United States, Europe and other countries as well. We see a lot of what you mentioned above .300 win mag, 30-06, 7mm and .308 seem to be amongst the most popular, but overall probably the various .300"s are the most common. If a hunter is after dangerous game as well the most popular tends to be the .375 H&H.
