I got a kick out of seeing this in the TSC flyer,
It's actually not a bad thingy...If you can throw on the Mobi Book reader app it might be the next purchase I make with my gifts cards.. !!

Next is a camera that automatically shoots the deer if it measures up to the size you programed into the camera - or if put on manual mode you shoot it while at home watching what is happening on your computer -
Seems to just be a tablet with hunting specific programs installed. I can read my trail cam cards using a simple $7 card reader hooked to my phone, which also has gps ability. But, I'm sure there will be some that figure they gotta have it, when they most likely already have a phone or tablet that will do most of what this unit advertises.
I'm intrigued with the 'e-caller' capabilities so I don't have to buy a Foxpro for coyote hunting. Just an external wi-fi speaker (which Spypoint also sells.) I don't have a tablet or smart phone of any sort so might not be a bad idea to finally get something that is at least more usefull than just for checking e-mails.
I looked on Amazon and they sell for $150 US so that price at TSC is actually pretty good.
A lure for big fish :)
I didn't do any research on it before posting, perhaps I should have as the e-caller function is attractive. But as Delmer said there are cheaper ways, you can get a Bluetooth battery-powered speaker and broadcast via your smartphone too.
Had you pegged as more of a purist Mike ...
:rolleye:
"Purist"? Should we go back to herding buffalo over cliffs and using spears?
I mean compared to that the guns we all use are about as advanced as the doohickey in the original post. I can never understand the sense of superiority some people get out of looking down on those who are making use of new technology. Hunting is about what the individual gets out of it. If this makes them happy, then I see no reason why anyone should look down upon them. Alternatively if ones sees fit to use a recurve bow, then I'd also 100% support them.
I'd love to learn about how to use my smartphone as an e caller. I presume just get some calls on mp3 format and use a standard player...
Where would one get the sound files?

more like a pragmatist :)
Since I don't own a smart phone or tablet already; this thingy has a Camera, GPS, game call function, SD card viewer for trail cam pics and I can put on the Kindle app so can read my books on it and it's more rugged than my Kindle to take out in the bush. .....so I'm thinking it's might serve a practical function for my outdoor actives.
I'm sure you could buy each 'function' separately like Delmer suggested, but then you have a pile electronics you have to carry in a bag with you and have to constantly charge or replace batteries in. This is nice to have it all in one device.
AND it will be free to me once I cash in the gift cards I have on hand...so a "no brainer" as the say.
This guy does a pretty good review of the basics of the GeoPad, at 6 minutes in he walks thru the e-call sound function and says you can buy more, but doesn't elaborate.

As an owner of one of these tablets I have no idea what the uproar is all about...it is basically a tablet with some hunting apps on it...nothing more nothing less!
I guess my "purist" line, made in jest, has been misinterpreted. Tried to add an emoji but couldn't see where.
I just didn't see the item as being the "ultimate tool" as advertised. Good fodder for conversation as beating up on Liberals gets old after a while.
So did a quick Google and found this. Might be interesting to try out.
I have a couple of old phones kicking around and a waterproof Bluetooth speaker so might be the ticket.

What surprises me in this whole thread is that Mike doesn't own a smart phone... time to get with the times Mike, there is the whole world of texting out there to discover.
Geesh! I thought I was behind the times? Just 2 years ago I came on here asking advice on smart phones and got all sorts of ridicule (in a nice way) So I bit the bullet and life has never been the same since.
Now, I get to be interrupted with the sound of dings n dongs everytime I'm in the garage, outside, or at the cabin! I can no longer go to a grocery store without getting a text from my dear wife adding to the list? Of course this text invariably arrives as Im walking out of the store? My buddies get to send me pics of their fish they caught, with the audacity to ask to see a pic of mine? There should be a law against texting n fishing at the same time? Back in the old day's, my wife would send the dog to alert me that dinner was ready and on the table. That dog would track me down and drag me by the pant leg back inside, since he knew that our dinner, meant that his was close also! Now at the sound of the ding dong, he just lay's there and rolls his eye's? An era gone by....
Stay purist as long as you can MP. Do it for yourself, your sanity, but most of all, do it for your dog!
Hey do you have a brother named Jim...works at Virgin Mobile ???...he called me yesterday and told me the same thing :)
Apparently my Samsung Flip phone is no longer all the rage and that $10 a month package I have is so old they aren't making any money off me. I told him to look at my usage..5 calls since Nov and that was because I was using it during the hunt camp week to call the wife ..LOL..
I think I'll buy this however, a new 'Boy Toy'...seems like a must have for a guy that has everything ...and it is in Camo :)
What does is actually do for trail camera photo management? I'd be interested in something like the DeerLab software that will add weather, moon, barometric pressure trends, and wind direction information to each of your photos, and catalog specific deer you tag to look for trends. Any of this kind of capability built into this?

Not sure, but this guy touches on some of the Trail Can pic capabilities in his review...

There are all kinds of downloads for free. You could start here:
https://averageoutdoorsman.com/wild-game-downloads/
I've used the calling sequence from this site before:
http://www.varmintal.com/coy5-20.htm
My first caller consisted of a cheap $20 mp3 player that ran on a single AAA battery connected to a computer speaker powered by 2 AA batteries. Now you could just download some free calls onto your phone, and get a cheap blue tooth speaker and do it that way.
Meh, If it's in the flyer, TSC won't have stock anyway.
Order it on line...have them deliver it to the store..wait for the call...slick process and avoids disappointment.
I did that yesterday, they called last night (had one in stock) and I picked it up this morning.
Now for the long learning curve to get it set up; I guess I'll have to sit by the fireplace with a glass or two of nog :)
Give us a review after a while Mike.
At 1st glance a couple of points jump out.
1. It's an android tablet, meaning lots of apps available. Now it's running an older version of android, so it may be the reason for the clear out at that price.
2. Being ruggedized and relatively weather resistant is decent. You could spend over $100 on a similar non-ruggedized unit, and have to spend a lot of $$$ for a Griffin, or Lifeproof case.
3. The SD card reader is value unto itself.
Let us know how it works out.
Thanks Delmer.
I've spent a lot on gear and easier to use stuff I already have.
Only issue is severe cold but I don't know how much of that I'll do lol. I don't want to be an ice cube.
I checked out some of the calls. Those sequenced ones are handy.
Fawn in distress is my likely candidate.

So far I'm very pleased....but it was an effort, more because I'd never set up an Android based tablet before, so a heck of a learning curve for the grey matter :)
Cons;
The biggest hurtle in setting up the device, for some reason, it was not 'seen' by Google....so any apps like Chrome and Google Play wouldn't work right. Again not knowing what was wrong I spent a lot of time trying different work-arounds to no avail.
On a positive note; I e-mailed the query to Spypoint customer service and they send me a 'update.zip' file (2 hrs later) with instructions to install at the bios level. It was a bit tricky but got it installed and it fixed the problem.
It wasn't a real deal breaker as the GeoPad comes with another App downloader that worked great once updated thru the browser already installed.
Pros;
The GPS (satellite) works fabulous and is very accurate. The off line maps are great with the GPS and I was able to set waypoints etc very easily. The GPS compass 'wayhome' app also works great. Still have a few others to try out.
The Wild Game call function is super and works great with a remote Bluetooth speaker. I'll used my wife's for now but found a ruggedized weather proof one on Amazon for $25 so it's in the mail. It will sit out about 10 m (33') away from the blind. Nice kit.
edit add; I should have mentioned...I hit Google Play and waded thru the plethora of FREE game call apps and installed a few..they all work great.
The Kindle app for books works flawlessly thru the GeoPad wifi...links to my Amazon Library and I can 'send' books directly to the GeoPad.
So far I'm tres impressed... still a lot of fine tuning to do to get it customized, but for $200 I got a device full of useful tools and functions in a single ruggedized weather proof package....eliminates a whack of other hardware i used to carry out with me.
Thanks for the heads up 73Hunter....I like to embrace technology when it practical and serves a useful purpose. I was looking to buy a FoxPro predator caller, for more $$ than this, so I saved money and got so much more.
As a visual aid; purely based on a pragmatics..technology has simplified the kit we take with us to the field.
Granted I will still carry the Silva and/or add a small Duracell charger ($10) in the back pack for the GeoPad.
https://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Inst.../dp/B002FU6KF2
The little blue thing with the Geo Pad is an optional remote Bluetooth speaker you can put out 10 yds from the blind. Missing on the far side is a SDcard viewer some guys carry, the GeoPad has one built in.
With less to carry...as Martha would say "That's a good thing" :)
