Finished Laurona side by side

I've always wanted a Spanish side by side and was fortunate and came across one this fall. Not a high end AYA or anything along those lines- but I must say I enjoy shooting this gun more than my Berretta or Ithaca. The gun needed some tlc as thereceiver was very pitted and stock was had numerous dents and scratches, so I thought I would try to fix it myself. Amazing what one can learn from watching youtube- here are some before and after photos- I used linseed oil and did the checkering. Must say -I really enjoyed it. the gun is a 50 year old Lourona- they are Attachment 36423Attachment 36424no longer in production--before and after shotsAttachment 36425Attachment 36426Attachment 36426

I checked into the history of the gun- guess they began in the early 40's by 4 gun makers- Laurona meaning the four- they don't come around very often -but honest to God if you hunt grouse and woodcock- it is a joy to shoot- usually they go between $500 to $600 chokes are modified and improved

Laurona are pretty good value. Had one in 20g for a while. Mine had crazy tight chokes so I had them opened up.

Nice work, gun looks great. I had one in the 60s. It had 30 inch barrels both full choke and 3 inch chambers. Never saw another like that. High flying ducks in the afternoon feared me..............................Daniel

I have one in 20 ga. .....had the chokes opened up to skeet/skeet. It is my go-to gun for grouse and woodcock.

I had a 12 gauge Gorosabel a little while back, similar style and quality....I kind of regret selling it.

I have one in .410. My first gun.. was given to me back in '90 and had been through several sets of hands before mine. In very good condition, except I think the barrels might be bent a little?

Funny you say that about your .410
A buddy of mine bought one at an old MNR auction.
Looked great , but the barrels shot off a bit.

Its hard to explain.. no sign of stress on the gun (to me anyway). But looking down the bore(s) they appear a little "off" to me. Its my only double so I dunno. My buddy said I was nuts. Then one day we walked miles for birds and came up empty handed. Put a pop can in a tree just to feel the gun go off (I don't carry it often.. not practical for ducks and not good for shooting grouse through saplings) and I just about missed the can.
I put a couple patterns on paper. Looked a little low and to the right but I was freehand. My dad took a shot.. dead on. Gonna have to shoot it off a rest to find out for sure I guess.

LMK I have the same gun in 12 gauge built in 1958...cleaning it up....
