Poacher in Whitby

Buddy called me this morning from a conservation area we take bird pics at said what do you think of a blood trail on the path?
so I went over he told me about a nice buck he has seen everyday in the last 2 weeks but not today??

You can clearly see where it was shot and the blood trail to the road where you can see the truck tires backed up to load it on

CLOCA was called by my buddy and came out they called the MNR and were coming out about an hour later :goodstuff:

Hope this goof gets caught

side note I can't post pics of anything MNR has them

That's a shame. Hope they catch them, but not likely. Don't understand why people have to do that, there is no need for it.

After a rack if they wanted meat just walk in with a knife

What a shame but another reason hunters get a bad name because of stupid poachers

Any pics of the nice buck?? MNR could share pics with taxidermists and possibly wait for it to come in. I can only assume that it was poached as a trophy. It’s a shame for sure and makes us all look bad.

The amount of poaching that occurs within conservation areas in the GTA is pretty surprising. Gives all the rest of us a bad name to the general public.

Things aren't as rosy financially for a huge amount of people in the area as the liberal media would have you believe. Job losses,lay-offs and unemployment is disproportionately high since the collapse of the auto industry. Friends volunteer at credit counselling services in Oshawa both for the city and at Local 222 Unifor. They don't paint a pretty picture. It's not surprising that someone would take advantage of an opportunity to poach a deer. Poachers should NEVER be allowed to be equated with hunters by anyone for any reason.......ever.

It's too bad, we as hunters, can't donate meat to food banks like they do in the USA.

trimmer, I don't except that as an excuse. I live in a really depressed area, seems to me a lot of folks do pretty good on welfare, at least from driving by at 10am and watching them drink beer while I have to work to buy beer. I would say it is more likely the trophy or just someone out to kill and sell it. Yes poachers are not hunters, but try and explain that to the city people that are against hunting. All painted with the same brush.

Nowhere,nohow did I say it was an excuse. We have a responsibility,even a duty,to stop the stereotyping or comparison of hunters to poachers at every turn. I know it's not easy to explain,but,we must resolve ourselves to never tolerate such nonsense. The stereotype you cite regarding welfare cases swilling beer at 10AM is just as bad in the same vein. It's simply not true as a general statement and it,too,needs to stop. People that I've met and had interactions with who are on welfare,for the most part,are decent folks who for one reason or another can't find a decent job and are working two,three or four part time jobs just barely making ends meet. Some have been on some form of social assistance at one time or another. Anyone claiming they have it good need to walk a mile in their shoes.

MNR has contacted my buddy same as what we had gun shot and blood
CLOCA has 2 pick ups that seem suspicious

And my boot prints so I had MNR at my house to check :D

I was led to believe your pictures were seized by mnr. I was merely saying since you and your buddy often photograph the area maybe you got a pic of the buck and the mnr might be able to nab the guy trying to do a drop off at the local taxidermist. Please do not assume I did not read.
