Impaired driver

You got a friend staying a bit. Vehicle just happens to be ahead of yours. Has to go to doctor for inner ear. You drive them. Come back. Between ear and pills almost falls 3 times in kitchen. Takes out of mind notion wants to be at home. You say no,offer drive etc. No way,out in car idling. You refuse to move your car,,,call 911 to ask. Operator don't know says I'll ask cop. Asks cop. Says cop don't know but will come. 5 mins cops here. I hand em my keys,say if they move my car it's on you not me.

? Is assault by restrictions possible?

Yet they tell us to not let people drive if their impaired. Take away the keys, call them a cab, let them stay over night.

So they charged you?
If you had just let him drive you could be charged too.

What good does it do.

No charge but they had a social with him 5 minutes without even getting him out and barely gave me time of day. Wondering if charge could pend?

You have to ask yourself, is keeping your friend from killing themselves or someone else worth a BS charge that you have to go to court to clear up?

If you would rather your friend not die or kill anyone then it really does not matter what they want to do to you, you are doing what is right and calling the cops to sort that out. If you would rather not have your name linked to it then let them go and risk them killing someone, your call, an easy call in my mind.

Not in this case. You did your best. Police checked and released him/her. The rest is on Police and your friend. After calling Police on a sick friend though,he/she likely won't be a friend for long.

But what would the charge be ?

Can't be assault if you didn't touch him. Can't be forcible confinement just for not letting him drive?

I did give that thought. Figured dead friend was worse than live enemy. Now I wonder how it'll get spun and add it was a she in onscario

No Charge can be laid for this but I am not so sure about the 100,000 volt Stun/ flashlight you have in the EE.

Apologies Standup , a bit of research shows that stun batons are indeed legal in Canada but stun guns are not.. Carry on.
