Junkie.
Sorry line, but small has never closed here. Some seasons open and close, but in general small game is open. Want to keep your eye sharp for waterfowl shoot pigeons, crows. Maybe practice with the rifle for deer season, go clean out a field of groundhogs, snipe at some crows, pigeons, skunks.
Sorry to hear your having major withdrawal, but if you drive ten hours to hunt bear/moose why not drive an hour or two to were small is open?
Yup, I get it..haven't done no hunting or Gunning since the end of deer season. Been focused on the election. All that will occur now that I am free for a bit. Loaded 700 plus coyote rounds for 223..they need to be shot at range, got my Forrest Camping Roll Crimp 12 gauge roll crimper (from Russia) and have been converting 400 crimped 12 gauge slugs to roll crimp. Finally have some time to get back into it.
That roll crimper is awesome.

The secret is to keep busy today so that time flies.
From salmon till the early goose will keep me busy enough so that in no time be following the dogs after long beaks and forest chickens.
Lol, that's been my premise too, from working up a hunting load for my and my sons 30-06's to fixing my old ATV (anyone got a 3/4-16UNF clutch puller I can borrow, lol).
I'm debating getting my waterfowl stamp this year (after many years of not bothering any more) and take the dog out (near 4 yr old Yellow Lab). He's not trained but loves retrieving? and the water, should be "interesting". I've taken him grouse 'hunting' (just walking old logging roads) and he's more of a detriment to actually hunting but he loves the bush so "meh".
Not small game, but it's unfortunate the Moose and Elk situation in Ontario is so bad. I've got to give that a serious go, maybe bear too, plenty of those.
Fishing and boating on St Clair and Erie most of the summer. Then a trip mid August to Chapleau with my wife riding ATV's and fishing small lakes in the area. By then I start to prep hunting and ice fishing gear. Before I know its game on until Spring
For me it’s fishing time, critter control at 3 farms, range Saturdays, and a pile of loading. Hunting never stops and the vermin are ridiculous this year.
I've got it bad too… and it's 3 months away.
I can't wait for most small game to open up this fall, too. While coyote is open all year long in SW Ontario I just don't have the calibre rifle for it (yet)... that and lack of place to actually go 'yote hunting as my scouting efforts have mostly been towards Turkey and Deer.
As others do here, I, too, have been reloading ammo and prepping for the hunts that are to begin. thankfully, there is trap shooting I can do at my club to also pass the time and to stay practising along with the range.
Maybe this fall I'll finally take the plunge and get a .243 (or somewhere thereabouts) and take to 'yote hunting in anticipation for the late fall/winter months.
One day...

Hang in there...
Don't rush Spring/Summer yet. Were heading out camping June 28 - July 1 and Again August long weekend.
We did see a few grouse out in May long weekend but not as many as in past years.
