Went crossbow hunting last week and witnessed a turkey shot while roosting. I checked the 2018 Hunting Regulation booklet and couldn't find any mention of not shooting a turkey while roosting within half hour after sunset. Is this legal?

Not considered sporting ....... don't believe there is anything to says it's illegal .
Glen
Not illegal in ontario to shoot them from the trees.
Yes it’s legal with in the hunting time. It’s personal preference if you chose to hunt them like that.
Thanks gentlemen for the feedback.
shooting an arrow or bolt into the trees... good luck finding it :P
Shooting an arrow into the sky, against an absence of background, seems incredibly dangerous.
Better order some Flexseal in case it went into the neighbours roof
If its legal and you have a safe shot, theres nothing wrong in taking a bird this way. Just because some people don't hunt turkeys this way doesn't mean you cant. Just make sure you have an ethical shot because this will be one of many factors in making your decision to shoot.
Legal but not ethical to me.
Yes this, it's your choice if you want to hunt from the trees go for it.
And once again hunters attacking hunters for hunting within the laws set out. What's ethical to one may not to some else, so what who cares it's your choice. Baiting bears is like shooting fish in a barrel, using dogs is unfair bla bla bla. To bad you attackers wouldn't focus your efforts on the groups out there trying to take away your very own hunting rights instead attacking hunters just like yourselves....
Once again gentlemen, thank you for your feedback. I will continue to hunt the good old fashion way, turkey on the ground. Cheers...
We bait deer by the wheelbarrow .
All we end up with is corn fed Bluejays and happy coons.
They ignore carrots and salt licks.
Guess there is better grub on the neighbours property
I do bait deer early for photo ops.
Have yet to take a deer over bait.
I hunt traffic lanes. Anyone that baits deer knows the hardly show up but for a few seconds as they browse by for a picture.
Everyones ethics are different. I didnt attack him or say he shouldn't do it.....
Would you shoot at the bird in the tree?
I ground hunt no decoys in the bush. Run and gun them. Hardly ever set foot in the Bush before sun up. Its a challange for sure. To me thats what its all about.
Again im not attacking anyone for what they legally do. Just my point of view.
Yes ethics are personal. I don't agree with it correct as i stated. Its my choice. I am not forcing MY view on anyone. Dont know how you could assume that I said he should not legally do anything his ethics allow him to.
Wow you guys are too much.
Been partaking a day early it seems?!
Riles cause im the only one with ethics.?( that was meant to stir it yes)
Makes no sense that someones opinion riles people on the net.
Thanks guys you guys are so friendly.
Im out
Well now we know who shoots birds on the roost!
Guess you missed the thread.....but again just a lot of hooey.

I was only responding to this thread.
Someone asked a pretty simple question got an answer then people injected other thoughts into, so I put in my 2 cents.
But, you're right , just a lot of hooey
Getting really tired of these kind of posts.
Guy asks a question, gets a straight answer.
Another user decides he better take his social media savvy, passive aggressive debating tactics, and use the opportunity to "virtue signal"...about how he is more "ethical" or "enlightened" than those that don't share his view.
Because he framed it in a passive aggressive way, he then gets to say mea culpa.....and be blameless when the thread turns into a dumpster fire.
Happening far too often....
Doesn't jive with your own set of "ethics"....then move on...ethics are a personal line....pointing out how virtuous you are does nothing.
Always wake up your game :)

That would be the Fall sun.
First day of Fall was September 22.
Hunting in October is in the fall.
Yea I'm pretty much sure Indian Summer usually takes place mid Oct....so yea, it's a 'summer' sun figuratively. .
