Well, the guy probably wanted some attention and he got it. I am personally a little more discreet about things but to each their own.
The guys seems like a dink for doing something like that, there is not much good to come from something like that. Unless there is a good reason, it seems like a selfish act.
I remember when my dad used to tie his deer across the hood of the truck and drive through Pembroke. Everybody did it. Times have changed though and you wouldn't dare do it now.
Those atv/utv lift hoists are amazing. My buddy has the one made by HME. I don’t think it’s meant for use while atv is in bed of truck. But to each there own, I have no problem with it.

This is like throwing a 5 gallon can of gas on a fire ( with regards to the anti hunter ) in my opinion! Why give them more things to squack about.

I didn't see the picture, but I don't have a pick-up truck, so I have transported deer on my flat-bed trailer beside my ATV. I covered it with a tarp because I didn't want it to get any road dust on it. If I didn't have a tarp, I still would have had to transport it on the trailer, or try to stuff it into the back of my SUV, which is not easy to do by myself if the deer is large. Would I have come under the same fire if someone took a picture and posted it on the internet?
You all are so negative .
It could be an old man who couldn't lift it into the truck . He could have the lift for a reason either old age or a disability? Who knows .
You gotta do what ya gotta do seems like a secure load lol. People make long trips to hunt so it would not be feasible for lots to make a second trip .

I posted a pic of it
I have no complaints about it
like mentioned it was always on the hoods back in the day or on top of the old station wagon lol. You cant always run or hide from the anti. You will never loose the right to hunt from the anties so there is no point to worry about what they think. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...81dbda3d81.jpg

It seems they had power there, they were voted out.
That was one animal. Give it some time it will probably be back in season later in time and regulated.
Remember power and money rule all . The vote was 78 percent to close the season .

I don't have a problem with it. But someone else that might have kids in the car might make the situation a bit different, because now they have to explain whats going on. Depending on how sensitive the child is could make that difficult regardless if they are anti hunting or not. Personaly I think society got soft. I went deer hunting a few years back in a small town in upstate NY and everyone was in camo or hunter orange as there regular clothing. I went into the local hardware store and there was a deer hanging beside the lumber in the lumber yard of the store LOL but this is how it was before and this is still how they operate it now. Do I feel that this guy in the pic could of did a better job in transportation (yes I do) but if that was his last resort then you have todo what you have to do.
I really don't have an issue with it,although,if it was me,I'd have quartered the animal and brought it home that way beside the ATV. I see that this occurred in Saskatchewan where there seems to be a serious issue with gear disappearing in seconds. I only mention that because someone suggested to leave the ATV and make two trips-one for the meat and to go back for the ATV. There was a section in the old Fish&Game Act where it was an offense to openly display game carcasses. Not sure if it was included in the FWCA re-write. In many US States,it's an offense to conceal game carcasses.
Tone deaf Hunter....he should have wrapped it in a $4 tarp, if nothing more that to prevent it from road grime.
Must have been a slow day in the news, especially in Western Canada where hunting is still common place.
I personally don't see the big deal. In NB up until about 10 years ago maybe a bit longer, it was law that your game had to be transported in plain view.
It's a real shame that so much of the general public does not even realize animals are killed to make them their McChicken and Big Macs.
Things are different but back in the 70's/80's, my uncle used to put the moose head displayed on box trailer and drive 1800 km's from Ignace, ON to SE ON. Ppl looked but mostly thumbs up! Today?
Cut it up or tarp it would have worked for me...... but then if it was just for me (seeing it), I couldn't careless.....but when it hits social media, it affects me and other hunters too, so hopefully the individual had good reason to do what they did, if they didn't he/she is still a dink.
I haven't had occasion to display my kills in this manner, but I wouldn't hesitate to go down the highway with a deer or moose in the bed of the pick-up with the tailgate down. Wouldn't bother me in the least.
But I live in a rural area, surrounded by farm folk and country bumpkins who appreciate the concept of putting food on the table. If the anti's and/or weak kneed don't like it, we'll too bad?
I suppose, if it comes right down to it, I agree with what this guy has done.
Anyone who eats meat needs to button their lips. It's hypocrisy coming down on this when they buy their slabs of meat at the grocery store made from animals that have no life. Just because it's in a polystyrene tray with wrapping, doesn't make it any better. An animal had to die to give you your meat, and pretending it didn't happen doesn't change anything in reality. The only people I have time for are vegetarians. At least they walk the talk. We have so many arm chair critics nowadays it's not funny. There could be a hundred good reasons he did this. I see a big ATV in the back of that truck, and it seems he found a clever space saving idea. Nothing more or less than that to me, and certainly this should not be a story.
