I went to the same farm where I got that big orange/red coloured male a few weeks ago. I setup in the same location arriving and setting up just before legal light.
Once legal light came, I started off with a few dying rabbit sounds and before I could finish my first set of screaming sounds, (45 seconds?) this oranged/red coloured coyote comes running right out of the tall grass and makes a beeline to the decoy/caller.
It catches me a little off guard, I turn to get him into my crosshairs (same time yelling out wolf so he could stop as he was running pretty hard toward the decoy) but he doesn't stop. He makes it to the decoy, stops for a split second (realizes somethings up) turns to run and I drop him right at the decoy...... Wow, that was cool and quick.....
Is there another one out there because this happened real quick, so decide to crank up the ecaller with a dying rabbit sound and the next coyote comes screaming out just like the first, a steady run at the decoy. She doesn't stop at the sound of my wolf sounds, she reaches her buddy but doesn't stand still for a shot, instead she too realizes something is deadly wrong (pun intended) so turns on the after burners...
I keep trying to get her to stop by screaming out wolf sounds but she is not interested....no choice but to try and take her out with a running shot.... I follow her in the scope and when I think I am on her good, I take the shot (150yds). She drops but get back up and makes her way to a drainage ditch a few yards away. I watch the drainage ditch, she doesn't come out the other side so I know she is hiding in there.
I wait about 20 minutes, collected my gear and go after her in that drainage ditch. As I reached the 50 yd mark from where she went in, I see her move. She tries to run off so I had to put another round, finishing shot into her....
It ends well but not great as both the hides shown sign of mange. The orange coloured (hard to see in the pic) one could be the offspring of the orange/red coloured one I got two weeks ago.

Just goes to show you, getting in undetected is essential as this first coyote must have been real close, maybe even mousing in that tall grass just 150 yds away...
