Tradexchange just got in a bunch of the Swiss 7.5x55 .... and if I could figure out an explanation for my wife here are a pair of examples .... anyone seen and end of the world , space invasion fiction .... I mean prophecy between now and end of the month when the credit card comes in ... open to any excuse .

The K11s don't seem to have the same excellent reputation as the K31s. I believe you can't even use the GP11 ammunition in them.

NO!!! The action on the 1889 is too weak. The Model 1889 action was designed to handle rounds that generated at most 39,000psi. GP11 rounds produce 45,500psi. I cannot say just how much pressure INDEP or Norma ammo generates, so I cannot recommend using either round in an 1889 action. It safe to fire modern 7.5x55 rounds in 1896/11s, 1911s and K31s. If you wish to fire your Model 1889, you are going to have to reload your own cartridges.

The 1896/11 looks interesting and the single shot target too for the cool... the 1889s are for the reloaders it seems.
... now to figure out an excuse and which one before they all disappear.... alot already are gone.

You can still buy GP11 in bulk and break it down then load it up with a lighter load but the same bullet for the older guns, it would be a cheaper way to find brass, although PPU does make brass.
$0.82/shot for GP11 if in stock at TradeEx
$1.40/shot for PPU FMJ
$1.65/shot for PPU SP
$0.88/piece for PPU Brass
GP11 is berdan primed but still really decent to break down and reload lighter.
I held a buddies K31 Full Military, he has 2 and I told him he should sell me one for what he paid, ha ha ha, similar to rf2.

The 96/11 is safe for GP11 ammo, the older guns are what you have to worry about.Quote:

Yep, the GP11 is highlighted above..... patience is a virtue.... but look at what rf2 paid ..... Just thinking I know some that used clip and file the FMJ 8mm to make a sort of soft point or even drill a bit into the lead... no idea how effective with all the implications of reduced bullet mass, slight imperfections.... but even at $1.60 a shot what you would want to use a SP for isn't worth the effort now days unless you are using it for coyotes or something so a case of GP11 is good if a couple people split it and if you can get someone to reduce some and some reloading... :moose:

Have you held one? They are tanks, no need to worry about reduced load, it is essentially a 308 round but the gun is almost 9 lbs.Quote:

I looked into things, it may be impossible as you need to be a permanent resident or a citizen, unless I travel with the one guy I work with who is a Swiss citizen, then he may be able to buy one for me and bring it back. He said that the prices there are 50% of the price here, so buying one on your own and importing it yourself can be cheaper if you are already in country and have worked out all the legal requirements.Quote:
