Aside from his difficulty in answering the question, he says (I think) that his solution to water bottles is... tetra paks!!!
Reducing our use of plastics is a great thing, but I won't tolerate an uniformed hypocrite waiving his finger at me.

Lots of people on wells that done like to use their water for drinking. Myself included we have better water then some around example no sulfur in our well but others around are not so lucky .Quote:

I agree with a previous comment on “how did we end up with this guy. “. I have my thoughts. Not for this thread though. Another day perhaps. But yes, this is a very simple answer. Im not even a fanatic and if asked this question by a stranger I’d take a millisecond and respond. “We recycle, we compost, we drink tap water, when going on an outing we use tap water in reusable containers, we don’t use plastic bottles”. Easy peasy people. Even scarier than the plastics is the fact the shiny penny couldn’t articulate a simple response.

Not long ago, there was a discussion about “carbon taxes”, and my feeling ( thoughts only) that those that live in cities, those that reap the benefits, of massive urban sprawl, urbanization. Should be the ones paying for it etc. The topic of garbage, landfills, etc was touched on.
We are lucky, we live in the proverbial land of plenty. Lots of green, lots of land space ( S Intario the exception) lots, oodles of fresh water other will ( have and do) kill for.
We are pizzing and shatting in them like there is no tomorrow...
Thank god we are gnats globally and live where there’s an abundance ( for now)Because we are gluttons, none more so than the cities.

I think that we do need to reduce our use of plastics, especially those that cannot be readily recycled. We went from pop in glass bottles to plastic. We can do a lot to reduce but it is his smug attitude that makes this total BS, the ban is not what is bad, it is that he does not stand for any of it, just like his "standing up for women" and saying they are wrong when he is accused of harassment.
In your case, does a water filter get rid of the taste? We currently drink all our water through a water softener, not ideal, but have not been able to put in a drinking water filter/tap yet, that is coming this summer.

I have noticed something about this man. He likes to sling various platitudes (feminism, environment, middle class, etc) in a very slick, presentable fashion. However, when someone calls him out his BS, he goes from smooth operator to a combination of foghorn leghorn and porky pig in a half a second. I would have thought a person with a teaching background in drama would have a bit better composure then this. Well,I have to admit that his statement regarding elimination of plastic water bottles certainly got my attention. That's been a pet peeve of mine for a very long time. Everywhere we look,anymore,there's an empty bottle laying around somewhere. I see them at our Moose camp from previous years logging operations that haven't started to break down. It wouldn't break my heart if every plastic bottle disappeared tomorrow.
Plastic use is an obvious problem. However, I think the whole recycling issue needs addressing first. It appears that very little is actually being recycled.
