I blame it on coyotes..... no hogs to hunt.
John
Pretty funny if you ask me. I love the way threads go here … all helter skelter. LMAO ! As for age difference ? Who cares as long as it's legal. As for mens and womens roles in life ? Vive le'difference ! I believe in equality but still open doors for women and strangely enough have never been chastised for it.
Joe came back
Nobody is in retreat. Why have a conversation about politics if cons. won't acknowledge that they are not always right. By the way how is that ford dictator doing ? Can I say flustercluck ? Sold your soul to the devil for power. Province is in worse shape now than with the witch. More debt, front line service cuts, while cutting business tax, spend millions, maybe billions on litigation to fight 'everything' that came before, 80% of voters in the province would replace the premier.
Yep - came back to tell people the way things really are - it seems there is a common theme put forth by the liberals and if someone disagrees they get bent out of shape - your ok Fox most of the time but there are a couple guys(?) on here that should be on forums dealing with ladies underwear - let the real men like do the posting here -
I voted PC. this time around. Dictator ford is just going from one debacle to another. When 80% of the voters agree he is doing very poorly in power, and want him replaced, maybe there is something to it. The PC party of Ontario will implode before the next election.
Yes I agree there is something to it. All the self-entitled slugs looking for their free handouts from the province are watching them dry up. Their gravy train has come to a halt. Hard to stay popular when responsibility must be taken. Grown adults still act like children and their parents. On one hand we have Mom (liberal) who likes to have fun party, shop, spend like crazy and break out the credit cards when she runs out of cash. On the other hand we have Dad (conservative) who takes responsibility and refuses to spend to the point of being bankrupt just to be the popular Dad. What parent do you think the child would pick to hang out with, Mom or Dad? I bet Mom (liberal) until the cash and credit run empty, then they choose Dad seeing as he never runs dry, but only until Mom has more money again to spend. Then back to Mom
I don't come on here for the outdoors chat, I come on here for the politics. LOL.
I don't agree with this. I think Ford is making cuts because spending is out of control. Government contracts put in place by the LIBERALS, cannot be stopped on the drop of a dime, so spending will hurt us for years to come because of LIBS. If you are trying to say that Ford has caused us to be more indebted after only a few months in office ... that is incorrect. They have taken over terrible contracts and it's going to take time to fix things.
I'm glad he has the balls to actually make some cuts and try and be more efficient.
So,after 15 years of McGuinty/Wynne Ontario Liberal incompetence, ineptness and cronyism plunging Ontario to the depths of catastrophic debt almost as bad as Greece,do you actually believe Doug Ford was going to just snap his fingers and that all goes away? Come on,FMC,you can't be serious. I'd say Ford is doing fantastic sticking it to the spend-thrift unions that bolster the NDP. This province is technically bankrupt thanks to leftist policies. Tough decisions must be made. The "gravy train" has to go. I'm glad there's someone with the balls to actually take the sewer sucking bottom feeders on and make them scream like little piggies. Go,Doug,GO. Squeeze them until they bleed, then, squeeze some more.
It’s all Mike Harris’ fault !!!
Echo chamber is an interesting take and shows more self-awareness than I expected. More likely they are on fishin' trips, rather than carrying the water (over and over…… and over) for a political party. At some point some realize that there is no point in offering an opposing view to someone so entrenched with ideology that they have lost the plot. Some will still occasionally point out the foolishness so that the others observing know not all of us are drinking the koolaid. But for the most part they are ignored because they play one note and is often out of tune and no one, well almost no one, wants to listen to that.
How does that quote go? Democracy is a terrible way to govern, but it's better than the rest. ???
I wonder if there other areas where intelligence and financial literacy tests (and a few others) could be applied?
Well, interesting post as I prepare for the upcoming Hunt Mentoring season in Ottawa. Don't date - the wife don't like it. However, I have managed to get out fishing exactly twice....and produced two bass...and a dozen slimy pike. Still have not shot a gun since Oct last year...I though life was getting easier as I got older and the kids grew up,..nope the 22 yr old is back home...
My hunting prep signal is the last weeks of July is Vacation and then prep of gear, boats, camp stuff occurs full force from that point forward until end of deer season.
Sold the sleds, ATV and Truck Camper as we continue to downsize for move to the country next summer. I fully intend to (hunt/fish) Garden, raise chicken and Milk goats when I retire in 5-6 years. My wife's and I goal is to produce as much of own food as possible and live a simpler life.
Ford/Wynne it didn't matter then, as doesn't matter now. Both are equally horrific and have no desire to stop the gravy train (by debt), each has their own brand of Debt talk, nothing will be resolved or changed in the next 4 yrs. All that is done will be reversed by the next incoming party (unless Libertarian).
In the meantime, the deficit and debt will continue to grow, your freedoms will be continually eroded (as a tax slave), you see because neither of those parties, want change, what to restore and defend property rights, will continue to grow government, which require more tax schemes to pay for it, it is not about you or me in politics anymore.
It is about the only thing that matters to statist Politician - How do I get re-elected in 4 yrs.
You rights and concerns do not matter, unless you are part the demographic that they pander to in between elections. The comments here defending one side or other only proves that...to keep angry..to keep you laser focused..on green/blue narrative...while they guarantee your vote. IF we aren't talking about property right, the deficit, government growth and taxation..then you are programmed to respond accordingly.
Mark (happy fishing until hunting)
You kind of sound like a politician that can't seem to get elected. Telling us all what a mistake the other parties are. Sorry, I'm not buyin it. The provincial Liberals have run the province into the ground for the last what 15 years or so. Not sure how the other parties are to blame as well?
this made me laugh a little to hard hahahaha
I do plan to get new toys, but farm specific toys. Roto Tiller, small Kubota tractor with backhoe and bucket, or a farm tractor. Possible a Gator. The move is dependant upon Daughter finishing high school, or getting certified to drive by herself. We want out of the city on minimum 10 acres to qualify for Hobby Farm status.
FYI, you do not want to call it a Hobby Farm, you want to call it a Farm or a Small Farm, Hobby Farms are considered as expected loses by CRA as you are not expecting to make money, I was warned against calling it a Hobby Farm. Also, there is no requirement for acreage to be considered a farm, out our way you just need to be zoned Rural or Agricultural to be able to have farm animals, different municipalities are different though. For property tax purposes you need to prove that your land is being used as a farm, they will take a portion of the property and keep it as residential (I think normally 1 acre) and the rest can be considered a farm for tax purposes if it is being farmed. For CRA purposes they do not care if you have 0.1 acre or 100,000 acres, the income off the farm is farm income, there is a specific form for that when you do your taxes. If that is your only income then you can claim all of your expenses, if it is a partial income then there is a formula that takes that into account. Ask me how I know :D
Any time you want to chat small farm just give me a shout, getting lambs soon to be ready in the fall, a couple goats as well and the rest of the place is continuing as normal. Take care
Having some property is real nice - you always have something to do and don't have to go anywhere to be entertained - I always plant a large garden each year - have about 20 fruit trees - real big blueberry patch - cut around 5 or 6 cords of firewood each year - have some chickens - at one time had 7 hives of bees - I'm always doing something - really love where I live - I can hunt deer right on my property and usually get one or two each year - I butcher these myself - if I lived in town some place I'd go nuts - love being busy and doing things -
Great Advice, and thank you. I am learning the in/out of the by-laws, designations and zoning required to operate a farm operation. That being said, we have no intent to sell anything (commercial), it would be more along the lines to ensure we can have animals and meet basic land size requirements.
I plan on leaning on your advice, at least to keep me thinking straight...Will you be my mentor...lol
The first thing I would say, before you start looking call the municipalities you are considering and make sure you know what the zoning laws are. Montegue township near Smiths Falls requires 5 acres independent of the house to have any livestock, including a single chicken, so 6 acres to have a chicken. North Grenville you just have to be zoned rural or agricultural.
Make sure the animals you want are not too cute or your wife and daughter will keep you from eating them, ha ha ha.
Chickens and Goats...will not be eaten...I have been given the decree...dog food.
Ha ha ha ha, but goat is delicious, we have had goats in the freezer now over 2 seasons and about to have them for a third. They are tougher than chickens though, they act more like a dog, follow you around and such.
You do know that you have to keep having babies to get milk from the does, so you will have to sell the babies or eat the babies, it is part of farming.
What is the point of keeping them, are they just going to get old and die? all that feed that you bought for them costs money, and you are just going to waste it.
Don't forget, you will also have to build winter shelters for them which again adds to the expense, come rain snow or sleet you have to go and feed them, clean them out make sure they have water
We have a 3 year plan once we move, first year garden prep and planting if possible, chickens the next spring, goats the 3rd spring. I had thought about a fixer up property, but don't want to get tied down to reno's for the first few years. I will not keep a male goat (maybe) and stud out the service.
It is a difficult thing to get two people to decide on a house. We each wrote our laundry list of must and like to haves, it was surprising how much our needs matched. Reno's were top of mine NO list and her list of NO as well.
Just waiting on the right conditions to launch. Rodney, you have inspired me to get back to the land as you do. You daughter will know where food comes, she probably eats healthier then most kids and participates in the food cycle. These are skills we should all hone up on and aspire to become food security sufficient. I will always need the basic's, but want to have a Victory Garden.
P.S. Does anyone have an All American Pressure Canner for sale..lol
