Nice video, I actually got into a few of those last fall. I found that they tasted better then woodcock. Hoping for a few this upcoming season.
Thanks that was nice . Good dog , good shooting.
They look like an over grown woodcock. Nice to see.
I'm also intrigued by the Shot Kam...
Yes it was in the London area, semi flooded agricultural fields in brushy areas.Quote:
What kind of habitat did you find them? Was it around London? (Not asking for specific location)
tasty little buggers. i might try to bag a couple more this season.
I don’t know if this will be help, but I grew up along a reservoir lake which fed an inland canal system. Snipe like woodcock are billed as a migratory game birds, in the fall as water levels fell, because of water drawn off by the canal system during the summer months, the lake would exhibit sizable mud flats along the shoreline. The shoreline mud flats are their feeding ground. They probe them for small mollusks, snails, water bugs, frogs, etc. that are found in the soft mud. Their cousin the woodcock feeds higher up on the shoreline a behaviour similar to other upland game birds. However in the evening, the snipe had a ritual, of encircle the hay-field next to the lake, making a high pitched call. This I found was the best time to take them, away from the mud flats, and over the field..
