Wife wants a newer car because I bought a truck to big for her to drive. So...

So yeah wife doesn't want to drive her car anymore which I bought her new in 2008 (the care not the wife, wife is much older :) ). She complains it's noisy, the original alternator and battery went and now she doesn't feel "safe"and it has 420,000 K on it. Wants a AWD crossover. Like I'm made of money.

So I'm looking at a low millage but still older say from 2010 + under 150K. She "likes" the look of the CRV and Santa Fe. She doesn't seem to like the Escape or Outlander or Subaru's. But I might be able to convince her

Guess I will have to park my 2003 Sunfire and drive the Accent to the belt let's go. I think it has 150K on it now. Than I will go back to driving my car. Bet I take take that Accent to 500,000.

What I want to know is if they have timing belts or chains. I do not want a timing belt just sick and tired of changing them.

Some how I know how you feel...;)

Had to laugh at this one, what the wife wants and what she needs are 2 different things. One is a job to contribute to the AWD part.

My wife gave me her criteria...nothing older than 10 yrs and nothing over $10k....found a Rav4 (170K) at a dealership that fit the bill. She's happy and we got a great AWD SUV.

Toyota/Honda's you don't have to worry about millage as much....lots of life left even after 200K...

We both lease I get a new truck & she gets a new CRV every 3 years. I even buy the maintenance package. :)

Trouble free driving because I have better things to do than fix car's and worry about them leaving me stranded... lol

Ha ha, I exaggerate but 4Runners hold their value like crazy, had a 98 and miss it most of the time, I got rid of it after the rad went and put coolant in the transmission, lost my trust in it going into the bush with no cell coverage.

94 Camry - scrapped at 347K, still on the original clutch, was an east coast car and a lot of rot underneath
98 4Runner - sold at 286K with a cracked windshield, leaking steering box, bald tires, rust popping out around the back window and bumper, transmission issue I stated above yet saw it driving around town 3 years later still
2010 Matrix - 230K on it now, puffs a little smoke on start up but does not burn enough to do valve guides.

My wife drives the Nissan Rogue and we've had little issues with it. There's a pile of them around so picking one up with AWD dirt cheap should be fairly easy. We've driven it to the States a number of times and it keeps up with Texas highway speeds no problem. Surprisingly easy on gas so its another option to the limited AWD systems out there.

I can't afford divorce, it cost a good friend of mine 500,000. Some how she seems to think since I make more (she has a degree and I don't) I should pay more (Isn't that socialism???). Seems my income is "Our income" and her income is well hers. I still don't get that but I guess that's why she has a degree and I don't?

I also noticed the BMW were not that expensive either. But she didn't like the BMW or the Mitsubishi. Who the heck doesn't like a BMW?

A cheap Beemer? Maybe the repair bills on one of those might make up for the initial outlay. My wife would drive a Yugo if I bought her one. Her Rogue, a 2013 is loaded and she still hasn't bothered to set the presets on the radio. When I was shopping around the Toyota dealer was next door to the Nissan and both dealerships were owned by the same guy. The Toyota was $5000 more with less options than the Rogue. I asked why and the salesman said many people will pay the extra for prestige of a name. He said ones as good as the other.
If I have any issue with all SUV's its that they're noisy on the highway because of the open cab concept but from now on I'll always buy a vehicle with AWD.

I know, Yes my wife is mot a Conservative at best she is a red Tory. I told her if Trudeau gets re-elected (She votes NDP :scream:). Yeah kinda weird I know. I told her if Trudeau gets re-elected she has to by me 3 beer every night so I can try and stay drunk if Trudeau gets re-elected.

I am in the same boat as you , wife has a university diploma " doctor "
and I am a toolmaker ... and I found her and her family has a philological problem...
I found out to late 19 year in the marriage ....

Well GW I cannot help you with direct knowledge on the timing belt issue.However of the SUV,s mentioned the Honda CRV comes out of top with JD Power and Consumers reports consistently year after year.BMW,s are expensive vehicles especially after warranty so stay clear of them.I think if you both voted Liberal you would be much happier. LOL

If anyone around here voted liberal they have a death wish.

So I broke down and dropped 10K on a used KIA Sorreto AWD with the 3.5 liter.
It has a timing chain and is fully loaded 2011.

Those are nice, my wife was looking at one few years back. She has a heavy foot and said it wasn't fast enough for her. You are going to like it.

Toronto Star polls show Liberals ahead. Toronto Sun polls show Conservatives ahead. The polls unfortunately are not really a good measure, because they are sampling a certain type of demographic which may lean one direction or another.

I remember the Ontario polls had the Liberals behind the Conservatives ... but not as bad as the result ... they lost official party status, as you know. So the only poll that counts is on election day.

The only concern I have is the votes being taken away from the Conservatives in Quebec. The Bloque is definitely surging at the moment. Max is just not doing his job ... if PPC was doing better there, the PC's could partner with them and take government.

Anyhow, it will be interesting ... I will throw up if Trudope gets another term.
