This is good information. Thanks for sharing. As a newbie who knows nothing, my though is that this should be shown to folks taking Hunter's Education course. They should highlight the most common infractions too. Reminds me that I need to figure out how to put a plug in my new shotgun in the next few weeks...
What find of shotgun is it? Many already have the plug in it, an easy way to check is to try to put 3 2 3/4in shells into the magazine, if you can then it is not plugged.
The safety course is just that, a safety course. The infractions and penalties change as much as the regulations, just noting that people need to be on top of the regulations should be enough.
Nah. Not already in it. The plug I think was a yellow plastic thing in the box. Should still be in there along with 2 other chokes that I haven't played with yet either. I've already fired a few boxes of shells with the gun. It definitely takes more than 3... So I probably shouldn't be out in the woods with it this fall before I take the time to put the plug in...
I think if you porous thru the 288 fixed fines infractions listed in the Wildlife Act you soon realize that the instructors and regulations don't/didn't cover anywhere near what you can be fined for. Your better off knowing than not.
Doesn,t make sense! ???????

Very simple to put in.
The 870 you can put it in backwards and have the spring stick in the mag, not sure about your gun but if the mag sticks then flip it. If the gun is new then there will be instructions as to how to put it in.
Get on it now so you do not forget :D
It is an 870. You are a mind reader... Ok. I'll be mindful about putting it in backwards, thanks for tip.
i just put a plug in my 870 yesterday really easy to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ARlaIdLNTw
make sure you dont push to down to much after you put the plug in. theres another latch when you use the screwdriver that tightens the spring even more further down.
Here is one for you Fox: I found it interesting that when I picked up a bolt action .410 at a gun show. The vendor said something about the magazine holding 3 shells. I later discovered that he was correct. The kicker was that the gun was design such that 3rd round is chambered from the magazine. You could not slide a round into the chamber and than place three shells in the magazine, because in order to close the bolt it takes the 3rd shell in the magazine to load it into the chamber. You cannot depress three shell down into the magazine so the bolt can move over them. You can only depress shell so the bolt can move over them if there are only two in the magazine. Are C.O.’s aware of the mechanics of this action? One would hope so.
You don’t stop hunting because you grow old. You grow old because you stop hunting.

It is 3 rounds in total, if the action of the gun was so that you can put 3 in the mag but not one in the chamber at the same time then you meet the requirements, I do not see how they would or could go after you for that.
The Winchester 1887 lever action shotgun, the new ones made by Norinco. They have the ability to put 2 in the magazine, 1 in the chamber and sit 1 on the elevator. I do not know what a CO would say about this unless he watched you shoot 4 rounds at a flock or watched you unload 4 rounds from your gun as the 1 on the elevator is not how the gun is intended to be used.
