Greetings...

Lol, you should put this in the "morning laugh" section.
That was my first thought too.
Grouse hunting especially close to the GTA isn't for the lazy man however I'll put you on the trail.
Good time to read the hunting reg. In it you'll find a list of public hunting areas.
Some of them have grouse.
The rest is for you to discover.
First post and you admit to being lazy and want others to do your work for you? At least you are honest I will give you that. If you are that lazy you can't get off your couch and get out into the woods, go play a hunting video game.
You come on here and admit you are lazy. Now you expect hunters to divulge to you hunting spots!!!!!! People have many years, countless miles scouting on foot, Many miles driven searching for hunting locations and you expect this INFORMATION to be HANDED to YOU.
Good Luck.
Lazy and grouse hunting don’t belong together. Information is out there you just got to look.
Your honesty is appreciated, but maybe you started here on the wrong foot. How about an introduction for starters and then go from there.
after 2 days of crap deer hunting weather, this was a good laugh... thanks buddy. greetings to you too.
go north and be lazy by driving the old bush roads.
Love 1st posts like this...
OP...wrong start pal.
Well, that went well.:rolleye: Let's start over shall we? Your best source is the crown land atlas. Google is your best friend. Some Conservation Authority lands allow hunting. Again,Google is your friend. One thing is certain. You WILL be putting on lots of mileage. Around the GTA,there simply isn't any Crown land and if you manage to find a small landlocked area,it won't be large enough to hunt on even if you could get access which is virtually impossible. You're looking at driving at least two hours north just for starters. Welcome to the forum and good luck.
Not convinced this isn't a current member trolling the board [emoji14]

Yeah buds, you right. busy busy at work, no extra days off. so, I will delay it to next year.
Cheers, and good luck everybody.
thank you, appreciate it
Get the iHunter app. It will show you all the huntable county lands. For example Simcoe has lots of places to hunt.
Just make sure you check discharge laws. For example there are parts of Simcoe forest that reside in a municipality where its illegal to shoot within 300 m of a house. Other municipalities don’t have this rule.

"Lazy and grouse hunting don’t belong together..."
Does that include the ground swatting atv'ers?
Ooops....did I just type that... ; )
Geez, boys..... I never complained about lazy walking, we can compete. I am just lazy driving 6 - 8 hours up north. I used to go to Manitoulin hunting birds, but the driving is killing me. I am ok if someone can take me as a passenger..:)
Well with a doctors letter and an MNR permit an old or disabled hunter can stay on the ATV with a loaded firearm.
Sure you can drive out until you find a spot or see game, dismount and load but if you can get a permit, why not.

Sorry OP, but I have to ask those that make comments about "ground pounders using bikes or whatever". I don't understand why it is a bad thing, if what you are doing is legal. My dad had a severe heart attack and could go in bush so he hunted deer beside his truck, never got one that way but he was out. I had to use my quad couple years ago to drive to where I sat for deer controlled hunt as I had just had a knee replacement and couldn't walk couldn't even bend my knee. that was fun even riding the bike. Just wondering.
Isn't there some parks in Toronto with grouse 😃
Get on the 400 and follow your nose.
You would be more successful if you tried hunting deer instead of grouse around the GTA. The grouse down south are like a completely different species. They are so shy and smart with extremely lower population densities, compared to the northern birds that a 12 hour day going north, (4 hour drive north, 4 hour hunt and 4 hour return), you'll have at least a couple of birds if not a limit. Hunting 12 hours around Toronto, 1 hour drive, 10 hour hunt, 1 hour return, and you will get 0 birds, most of the time. Maybe 1 every 4th hunting trip. That's if your a wicked good still hunter & wing shooter. I swear their brains must have evolved to be 3 times larger down south or something crazy. I have seen grouse duck and hide under and behind stuff and sit there for hours, waiting for it to be safe to show itself, or fly away whenever it hears something walking 200 feet away, never letting anyone get close enough to see them. I remember hunting 2 grouse close to port perry, that habitually hung out under a spruce tree along a trail. They would fly away when i was 200 feet away from them, whenever I approached. I tried crawling up to them, coming at them from every angle, and it wasn't until I tried about 10 times one season and maybe on my 10th attempt the following season I finally got one of the two. I finally decided to try getting them by going in the middle of a windy snow storm to hide my approach. I jumped them and followed them, which i did many times unsuccessfully before, because they would first fly through hardwoods to a very distant (200 yards minimum) larch stand and hide in the branches, and flush if you came closer than 100 yards. I finally was able to get one by slowly sneaking up under them, taking 1-2 steps every 5 minutes. That 1 bird was the result of MANY failed attempts. I could have shot 30 dear with the effort i put into that 1 grouse.
The Moral of my long boring story - GO NORTH!
