Just watched it. Our Conservative leadership has now been vacated by Andrew Scheer.
"Sources told the National Post that the resignation was prompted by the revelation that Scheer was using money from the Conservative Party to pay for his children’s private school tuition, which was first reported Thursday morning by Global News.".
As a conservative, that's very disappointing for me. I had always thought Scheer was above this. And while it pales compared to Trudeau's actions, I'm still disappointed.
What’s more unfortunate is the liberals are winning. They always have and the dent in the conservative brand is widening. They don’t have a strong stance on what the people seem to want.
Climate change, woman’s rights, LGBTQ and so on. They do however have a good grasp on spending. It appears now though that people don’t seem to care if their children are left with our debt. We need a strong leader. Andrew sheer, I voted for but never was a strong supporter of him.
Just imagine a conservative government with majority decided to blow funds like the liberals. Its time to beat them at their own game. Smarten up.

I have read that. Hopefully that is the case. It may well be a condition in his pay package....
Edit: Word is the party had agreed to top up his salary to cover the difference in the cost of his kids schooling out west, and the costs of their schooling in Ottawa....
No nefarious activity here !!!
The radio is only saying he is leaving because of the backlash he is receiving, for loosing the southern Ontario voters.

Now if they can only convince Rona Ambrose to run for the leadership Trudeau would be done like last weeks meatloaf. She'd be better than Peter Mckay any day of the week.
Dustin Van Vugt,Conservative Fund Chairman, states unequivocally that funds were used to transfer the family to Ottawa with the full knowledge and sign-off of the board. That's standard procedure for all political parties. Look for the left wing media to attempt an anti- Trump-style media blitz. The story was printed by Global News. See what I mean? The CBC and TorStar will be next. Mountain out of a mole hill time.
I would also agree with that. One of the biggest issues is the looming crash of the Liberal's (probably before spring), a new leader has to be picked and have a name... Scheer wasn't a big enough name, sort of every ones third choice so when it was all added up he barely came out ahead.
So according to the usual schedule... yep this looks right

They need to pick a leader yesterday, they need a name ( 1) Ambrose 2) McKay ..... then the rest .... Kenny would have been my #1 and after McKay why even dragging Harper back would give them a better chance than the third stringers.) and they need to show 100X the integrity of the LIEbral's .... I mean everyone expects them to be exactly what they show they are over and over! Just look how many times Trudeau and Blair gets caught lying ... expected, no outrage or surprise .... off the fiction factory they go again!
Then there is this guy...
https://www.change.org/p/conservativ...ada-leadership
P.S.
The NDP and maybe the Libs may see this as an opportunity actually now I think about it, a failed confidence vote early, unorganized Conservative leadership and budda bing, budda doom... Libs get more seats (not in west but they don't care). Say the Libs tell the NDP no on something, then they blame them, fear mongering is ongoing (look at LIEbral Blairs ongoing fiction) etc. They know the crash is likely coming and an leaderless or unknown leader ....
Unlike in the US where the media can air or print any BS they want under The First Amendment, our media must be a lot more circumspect about what and how they print articles. If what they print turns out to "fake news" and it can be shown where the article was written with a deliberate attempt to injure, the Criminal Code can come into play very quickly not to mention civil law suits for libel and slander. Our media are very good at "skirting" the fringe of legality with editorial "spin" which is legal and can cause a lot of shyte in and of itself. I hate the media with a passion. To me,they're nothing but biased, leftist, sniveling, pathetic lying little pecker puffers.
They need to be able to prove what the write or be able to be sued into oblivion.
We need a strong leader for sure, I voted Conservative but knew Andrew Sheer wasn't the right person for the job. I'm hoping they get it right the next time.
Exactly ... it is very common to negotiate these things as part of packages. There's a salary and benefits, and a negotiation ... the media will always be quick to blow this up nuclear ... but it is likely a legitimate benefit. Maybe he accepted a lower salary to offset the tuition, and the tuition could be a tax write off ... who knows. Don't jump to conclusions.
Bottom line.
The GTA cesspool. Once again proving how everything revolves around them. Not good enough their selfishness and head in the sand blinders destroyed Ontario. And some can’t grasp why so many regions can’t stand it/them.
Regardless, Scheer and the cons were shut out. If he couldn’t win 10-20 seats there this year, he wouldn’t next time around. Whether that’s in 2 years or 4.
He had to go, there really is no other option. And no other way to spin it
I just got an e-mail that said Dustin Van Vugt and a couple of board members have been fired over "accounting irregularities". The plot thickens.
So let’s be clear....
The main reason the cons did not win a plurality of seats, despite having the popular vote. Was due to his catholic beliefs. Aka anti abortion, anti LBTQ. And, as a result, primarily, residents of the GTA, not being able to get past that, vote for him.
And that’s the parties fault?
/boggle
Call a spade a spade.
In Canada, it is illegal to discriminate against anyone, let alone a job applicant, for their religious beliefs.......
Yet, the so called left who spew platitudes about inclusion, spew vitriol towards bigots ( defined as intolerance towards others beliefs) etc etc....
Lets also be clear on this next point. Many people who, sorry many self centered bigots that couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Scheer, had the option of voting NDP. Instead the GTA still voted RED...despite all the brainfarts, embarrassments, SNC, hypocrisy, etc.
The problem is not “conservatives” nor who they choose as leaders.
The problem is the electorate
The problem will always be the electorate from the point of view of the losing side. Canada has changed a lot in the last 50 years. Population has concentrated in cities, rural communities have diminished with the demise of the family farm. Demographics have shifted in favour of the political left.
Nothing will really be fixed until it’s too late I’m afraid.
Pretty much hunter.
Take the Wynne party. Is it the Liberal parties “fault” they chose her leader, or the electorates fault they were re-elected following 2008?
JT?
I have no real issues with change/new leaders. Prefer it actually. The electorate can’t really be “blamed” when a party first comes in. Until a party has had a chance, any misgivings about them or the leader are purely supposition.
Scheer?
Maybe he’d turn out to be anti abortion, and attack women’s rights.
JT
In one term proved to be unfit.
Done, that’s all there is to it. Except the GTA, as they did here 2008-2016.....
I don't think we're admitting that the choice of a candidate or their popularity has a lot to do with their looks. These characters are groomed to appear just so in front of a television. If Sheer didn't have dimples and look like a teenager he'd have done better. Take Trudope for example. He sure wasn't voted in because of his brains.
Polls out yesterday saying Ambrose has the best “winnability”’.
Worded differently, if the cons want to win, she’s the best bet. For the same reasons Scheer had to go. The GTA.
So when you shine a different light on that, it’s not about records, or policies..it’s about shallow appearances...
And “whose” fault is that.
