Hi everybody, I am hearing that people are getting fined/ticketed for walking their dog in the park. I am wondering whether it would be safe to go shore fishing during this Covid19 lockdown ? Is a place like Innisfil Beach Park off limit?

IBP is closed
All parks, beaches pretty much anyplace in or near a city is closed so you cannot fish. If you happen to have water frontage or if you head north where there is ample crown land you can probably find a place to fish.
Or you could just stay home and stop the spread. There are all kinds of people staying home and doing the right thing. The are also not doing what they would rather be doing like hiking, bird watching, etc.....

Hope this pic works. This is the look from the Bradford river bridge on Yonge street in Bradford. Looks to be the only way into simcoe right now. The shore line is also lined with shore fisherman. I will say that they looked to be properly spaced. I’m sure it won’t be long until this gets shutdown.
Being a health professional graduate, 'staying at home' and 'social distancing' do not mean you cannot bird watch, hike, ride your bike, or run for that matter. It just means you do these things in areas where: a) it is legal to do so (ie. not officially closed parks), b) you keep social distancing rules when doing so ( so when biking, running, etc., stay the 2m from others AT ALL TIMES), c) be smart but legal about what you are doing. None of this means you are stuck in the basement drinking beer and watching TV 24 seven in order to stop the spread of the virus, Keep fit, live your life fully, as you should be able to do in a free country, but be mindful of how you are doing such. Is this so hard to do? Please stop spreading false information. According to the MNR at this time, unless posted as 'NO FISHING' or 'NO HUNTING', etc., these activities are STILL allowed legally as long as you practice social distancing rules. Look it up if you don't belive me. Over.
retrofish the same has been said before but some can't get the concept between guidelines/recommendations and official orders.
I agree with you but some will continue to belittle others because they are not acting as they incorrectly believe is correct.
I have been shore fishing the last 2 weeks .Walleye have been running good ,have 24 in the freezer .
Legally I have my possession limit for the wife and myself.
They were all 3 -4 lbs each.
So that's 24 meals for us.
We kept the social distance from the other fishermen and woman.
I will keep fishing as long as they allow it , mostly for my friends and family.
It would be awesome if I had a great walleye fishery near me open lol. I will be fishing our opener here for sure, I have a few isolated areas I can try in another month when it opens. Maybe the launches and parks will be open for the shore opener

Nice going on the fishing.
Good luck

Me smells something really fishy here. Zone 19 has S-6 limit in possession/daily limit.
oaknut I don't know where that came from but it's wrong.
Ontario does have a provincial possession limit.
It's 6 walleye or sauger. Pg 13 of the current provincial recreational fishing regulations summary.
And you can legal target fish after you have reached your daily limit. You must release any fish caught after you have reached your limit for them.
Wow, our walleye season closes mid March and doesn't open up again until the third week in May. I'm stuck eating radioactive Captain Highliner frozen, formed fish chunks and you guys get fresh pickerel! LOL
News from today . The Trent Severn Waterway was due to open on May 15th. it has been postponed till at least May 31st. No locks ,no ramps, no mooring, no parking, on Parks Canada property. (the system is Federal). So no going between lakes, if you need a lock to do so.
Premier Doug Ford announced today that all fishing seasons would open as planned. Obviously, the plan is to re-start everything before the end of May.
Would that not still be illegal? I don't think you can eat all you want for a shore lunch. Are they not , still counted in your daily limit? And if you have your limit , whatever that is , at home in the freezer , you can't go out and catch more to give away. You must give away what you have in the freezer first , before keeping any more .

Try to keep up.
"Everything" will not be reopened by the end of May. But y'all can keep hoping.

Maybe Judge has 24 filets in the freezer, so 12 walleye.
John
Maybe, but it still means he can't go fishing for more , 'to give away'. He did say 'walleye have been running good, I have 24 in the freezer'. No mention of fillets.
As stated already, it is not a lock down. Follow the rules keep your social distance, respect places that are closed. hunting and fishing are still open don't need to stop doing things because other things are closed. enjoy your life the best way you can it will be a while yet.
Boat launch closures are at the discretion of the municipalities it was not mandated as part of the provincial closures. Many rural areas have launches open. Hopefully some of the bigger Lake O municipalities will re open the launches for walleye opener but I could see them keeping them closed to avoid an influx of out of town
people traveling to fish. Disappointing but understandable oh well have to stick to the small back lakes till things get better.
Nope! He didn't say that,at all. He expects municipalities to use their discretion, but,as far as the government is concerned, everything will open on schedule. It necessarily follows logically that boat launches will be need to be open. To do anything else is patently ridiculous.
Yes really . If you have your limit in the freezer for that species, you can't go fish for more. Possession limits, include frozen, freezer fish.
Legally your are right.
But I'm going anyway.
Catch and release is still fun.
Absolutely , go for it. Catch and release is all I do, unless the fish is going to perish anyway. Just don't be a poacher, by having more than your limit, in your possession.
