It's a question of perspective,500 deaths from Coronavirus as opposed to 15K every year in Canada,alone,from Flu that none of the main stream media or the politicians ever mention.
Well we have 181 and counting for today alone! We have already blown away the previous daily death toll! It's ramping up it seems.
WHO states the Flu’s death rate is 1%, Covid-19 3.5%. With the recent increase in deaths, the rare is now higher than the 3.5% may be increased. Also, there is no vaccine to prevent Covid-19 but there is for the flu so it is more likely to infect people.Quote:

Myself instead of seeing numbers of those testing positive. I rather seen where and the number in icu and how they contacted it
Devastating in the long term care homes. Sounds like Ford is trying too get a handle on it. I know locally many of the workers have to work at two sometimes three homes in order to get enough hours to survive. This crisis certainly emphasizes much more needs to be done in order to protect our most vulnerable.
I’m not sure how much good comparing to the “flu” is. It’s a different beast. We still don’t know if people will get it again ( S Korea is reporting positives in people previously recovered). We still don’t know if it will leave many with permanent damage. Etc etc..
there are those that reference the Spanish flu. But that was a different world. Many lived in squalor, hygiene was not what it is today. Medicine was not what it is today. They didn’t even have testing back then. If this were 1918, it would be far far worse.

Yep sad they keep saying they will up the testing but they never do. The death rates to positive should say something they are still only testing who they want. Taiwan's numbers make me wonder where ours would had they acted in January, I wonder what it would be IF they had put in airport screening, IF they had put in travel restrictions, IF they had not sent masks and equipment to China, if they asked people to wear masks and not put out such nonsense, and put in quarantines.... One of our long term care homes is just a disaster not sure what they are thinking . It's being hit hard with 7 more deaths over the weekend but stories are popping up in the paper that they had positive people with non positive then separated them all to floors. Why would the non positive person be sent to a to a non positive floor when they shared a a room with a positive person? Wacked if you ask me talk about spreading it to the non positive floor.

Glad to see the are willing to test anyone with symptoms but . A long term care nurse had to lie last week to get tested. After working with positive patients she was being transferred to another home. They would not test her because she showed no symptoms. She called back made up symptoms and used her French accent hopefully fool the phone operator it it was the same person at the call office.
Turned out she was positive could of infected a new building yet out government could care less. As we have restrictions for being tested. Foolish

I am remembering more about my December issue, I may have infected many if it was what I had . Many people I had directly contacted ended up with severe pneumonia or little symptoms at all. People I was with thier spouses were hospitalized in December and January with pneumonia . My one buddy was bed ridden about 2 weeks after my my flu like bug.
I had gone to a Christmas party in late December felling better. The say I had bronchitis from being a chronic smoker. The beginning of January their entire family was wiped out with with a bug so bad they never felt better.
