Well the morning started off horrible not a sound of a turkey to be herd. I was discouraged but told my self I was going to hold tight and wait it out before deciding to run and gun. Well around 7am a hen came out alone and she kept me busy for awhile because I had hopes a Tom would join her. After 20 mins she crossed over to the neighbouring property, as soon as she left a Tom sounded off maybe 300 yards away. 10 mins of this guy gobbling and slowly coming closer from the neighbours property this hen comes back and heads his way. I thought the game was over until I see the Tom come over onto my turf. Unfortunately the hen intercepts him but doesn’t have any interest in him and continues to prune her self while he is strutting. This Tom did not want to leave her so I had nothing to lose and decided to belly crawl to get closer and try to get a chance at a shot. These birds had a perfect view of me for 50 yards until a hill would conceal me so I chance it and made it to the hill not knowing if the birds saw me or not, as I crawl up the hill and raise my head the hen is looking straight at me but the Tom luckily was strutting so hard and his tail was blocking his head, as soon as he turned around I laid him to rest. Only after getting him ready for a pic I noticed he had 3 beards which is a first for me. A bit of patience, some motivation and a hole lot of luck paid off. Goes to show you most of the time those hens screw you up but this hen kept him busy enough for me to get close.
