That is a very nice mount.
Borax is your friend ;) TC
Use borax to dry after you get all that yellow stuff out, if you take tweezers and reach up in the end where the yellow stuff is you can get more out which you don't want left in there. Looks Good and congrats!!
A taxidermist told me he dips it in camp oil over night to help remove the flesh.
Working on it today. Not sure I like the driftwood

I agree ! It’s very easy to make a template of a plaque, similar to the picture, and cut it out of pine. A router does a good job of finishing the plaque. Some stain and varnish and it’s done..
I also don’t like the driftwood but the rest looks great. I wonder if a small piece of birch would fit better?
Light wood pine light cedar stain or dark wood
I have router just don’t like working with wood
Ya, not a fan of that wood piece either.... Looking forward to seeing the finish. Sure it will look great
Its coming along but I agree with the rest. Ditch the drift wood
I wouldn't toss out the driftwood just yet, if you have the tools you could cut it to shape, flatten the face then sand and polish it, never know how it may come out with the colour variations.

I’m not a wood worker guys so give me honest ideas I’ll try
No imagination either lol

That looks better.
I would of rounded the bottom like the top.
Shell across on angle in top portion?
What I want to do is to put it in shallow wood box with glass cover it will be hanging in my shop

This being background wood. Up and down or crossways crossways gives benefit of having slats at back that will fit in ribs of interior barn siding and to hold bead board together
I have placed a picture on one of my displays, it looks pretty good....Just something else to think about

Don’t think I would have done it if it wasn’t 2020 the year of not much to do

Totally different from what i have ever seen and unique.
Very nice job.
That looks great congrats
I left the bones in bu took my time to make a slit and remove all tissue/muscle. the bones act as a framework for the bondo after the wing is boraxed. then I fabricated a steel backing plate to hold the fan and wing.

thanks. it was the only turkey we've gotten that had mint feathers. most others were kinda more fighters and roughed up.
