Valley bird down and tagged out
Morning was full of gobbles it was nice to hear and interesting to see new birds in the area move in. To my surprise with all that gobbling not one bird showed him self. A hen came out and I watched her dig a huge hole under a cedar tree. Not sure if she was dusting or nesting but what I do know she was Tom less. I got tired of hearing the gobbles get further so I decided to follow the gobble and see if I could get closer. Long story short the Tom was in a big valley on top of a hill on a flat plateau alone gobbling his head off. I tried calling him to me but he wouldn’t leave his cozy five by five area he was strutting in. I decided it’s time to make a move on him and crawled the side slope of the hill keeping out of sight and trying to sound like a turkey. Got in range lift my head over the crest he spun around and gobbled and that was that. Nice bird 20 pounds 3/4 spurs and 8 3/8 beard Attachment 40305Attachment 40306Attachment 40307
