You got to feel for those bus drivers, a lot of them are retirees which makes them top the @ risk covid list....
I know a few folks who loved to drive school buses,all retirees like me. They've decided that the risk to themselves and families is too great to chance it. They won't be returning this time. There'll be a shortage of drivers for sure. I wonder if the government has thought of that eventuality? They won't be able to just pull drivers out of the air. Even volunteers have to be trained and licensed before they go near a bus full of kids.
My wife and I were discussing this issue a few weeks ago. Seems like the bus problem hasn't been mentioned until now? Given that kids now almost all travel by bus, it's a little late I would say.Quote:

Both, Buss companies should have known but might have helped if the province had reminded them early on.

I have thought of driving a School buss when I semi retire, I have even spoken to the buss company down the road that my son takes to school. Told them I would need between 18 - 20 maybe more depending on when I feel I am done in computers. I should have no problem getting it.
Yes I agree the busing company should have been planning back to School but considering it seems everyone else needs help I would expect the same from the buss companies.

In this area there are kids who are on the bus at 07:45 for an hour long ride to school. Havent heard about the staggering times here but I doubt any parent will put their small child on a bus at 06:45? On Friday all the grade 9 and 10 students started school here (grade 9 only on Thursday), son said there were only 3 on his bus and the rest were either driven or are staying online
