Just wondering if anyone does any ice fishing for specks north of the GTA?
I dont mind driving and I have all the gear....willing to trade some speck/brookie ice fishing for a spring Turkey hunt...

For closer fishing you should just fish simcoe perch. Specks will be a long haul on crappy winter weather roads.
2.5-3 hrs NE of you there’s a few stocked lakes that can be good. Only thing that sucks is access some of them are a horrible hike into. The Bancroft stocking list should be updated soon
No problem hopefully we get good ice soon
small speck lakes are frozen with the cold we been having. And lots of snow in the bush. Tracks are on the ATV and it's 'go time'

FYI - just speaking to a good buddy of mine who has been out a few times already - ice on smaller lakes in the Minden area are not too bad - just need to avoid any with inflow/current areas. I also have heard that some guys have been out on sheltered bays on Rice Lake. If in doubt, drill first. I used to carry an 18v Milwaukee Drill with a huge bit extension - quick way to test ice. Test first - THEN walk out....
Good Luck
