Hey guys,
My name is Aly, am new to hunting, I will be hunting with crossbow and am looking forward to have a partner si we can go deep in the woods of public lands.
I was thinking about WMU 61 OR 63A
Bty am from toronto, and i don't mind any public land
One more piece of information about me, am 34 yrs,
I didn't know that it will be hard to find a partner
Shankl-do not despair. Hunting partners do not come by every second day...really good ones-the keepers, may come by every 10 years.
Crossbow hunting is generally-as bowhunting, a lonely affair. Many ppl would not comprehend group hunt-with reason.Bow hunting and crowds do not mix well.
Be patient, and keep in mind-many many old hunters already have their buddies(the keepers-the "not so keepers" and even the "so-so" ones).By raising Your hand You may never find someone to team up with.
Do some search,get involved,make friends.
Just be aware-not every friend is a true one.Be ready to lose more friends ,then gain "keeper"friends.
Thank you gbk, great advice
Join at rod and gun club? Make friends there with common interests. It would be a start.
I'm very hesitant to bring new people with me. It seems to never work out. Now I only bring kids with me. They seem to want to learn.
Welcome to the hunting community.

I understand it's hard to go such a situation with someone you don't know, I used travel to UK and Australia when I was in the 20s with people I never knew them, I was lucky and I learned alot, Brons and cons...

Maybe go to the public lands that you are thinking of, see if there are already hunters there,
Ask where they are hunting as you dont want to step on their toes,
Ive met a few that way, but bow hunting is some what a solo affair
I go with my son and he alone now, too many issues with other people and a big difference in ethics, like people not hesitating to Trespass,
Yea I was thinking about that, but I need to make a good plan, especially when you are hunting alone and away from your place by 3-4 hrs in the wilderness, you can't predict what will happened there even if you are 20 years hunter.
I hunt solo often. Its all about preparation and having a solid plan if you get a deer.
I have the Hawke crawler cart in my truck and its a breeze to extract any size deer.
Once back at the truck I use a hitch mounted hoist to lift the deer in to the back of the truck.
Being self reliant is the way to go!
I don't mind hunting with good friends but if they can't make it I don't let it stop me... lol
Yea, I agree with you
Hey guys
I just wana share with you my first experience, I went to private land, in grey county WMU 82A, I enjoyed it, but i believe that with a group it would be more fun, I found a lot of tracks for deers and other animals, unfortunately I wasn't lucky, I was hunting from a blind, am still thinking to go before the end of the year but probably will be public land.
