It's not so much a lie as how they are manipulating the data to instil fear...like the positivty number. When they were testing everyone the number was at 1.4%....well that wasn't scary. So they switched to only test people with symptoms. The postivity rate jumped to 5% and they tacked that onto the numbers to show there was a 2nd wave. They been fudging the numbers like that since the beginning.

Mike wonder if Heart and stroke Deaths are down . I see it now [emoji23] heart attacks and strokes are down because we stayed inside more lol.

AND they are testing twice as much as summer now ! 65K tests yesterday I think I read somewhere

I'm starting to question those huge numbers...mid summer here and the folks were standing in lines for 4 hrs and only registering 10,000 tests a day. I was just outside and no-one, who is showing signs of a flu, is going to stand out in that for very long..

I think they are including all the kits in every health care facilities being done every day or second day. Not only tests in the community anymore.

My daughter works at the Brewer Park test centre in Ottawa and it's dead, hardly anyone has gone there in some time unless they need a test to get access to a Nursing home etc.

I guess would you prefer Harper at a presser talking about the state of the economy without needing to refer to a stack of papers. Or JT needing an ear bud and a copy of economics for Dummy’s.

I honestly don’t know what to “make of the numbers”. Human nature is human nature. I don’t doubt numbers are being spun.

I acknowledge for example the issue around co-morbidities. I’m ok with the way we count Covid deaths. If I have a perfectly survivable condition ( diabetes)....Buy Covid does me in......

not ok with the fact, when we exclude LTC deaths, our numbers are “tiny”.

Not ok with the way non Covid deaths are being swept under the rug.

I mean, if some guy is depressed having lost his job. Abducts his son, crashes into an OPP cruiser. Gets killed along with the 1 year old boy.

Agree! Nowadays people with respiratory illnesses or heart disease are living lengthy and active lives because of medications, contract Covid and die. Thats a Covid death, period!
And I don't care if they fudge the numbers of daily infections. Do what it takes to get the brain dead behaving more responsibly.

Harper is off the map now! Have a listen to MP Pierre Poilievre the finance critic. He is exactly what you describe.
Unfortunate that he declined to run as head of the PC but given the global mess we are in at the moment he probably thought it best to avoid.
If you are on FB check him out. A very well balanced politician who is not afraid to ask tough questions of the Liberals. Unfortunately, he never gets a straight answer.

Sorry, if you are in an LTC where the bulk of the people are dying you are not living as you describe.
Covid by any other name would be called Influenza.
My daughter and niece work in them. I have visited and watched my mother-in-law die in one of them. Alzheimer. Not covid or influenza.
A form of respiratory illness is usually what takes them away. No one lives forever.
Cold - hard - facts.

I recently had a close call of my own. I know I am not immortal and will eventually be just a statistic.
All I would ask is that it is not used in a political agenda.

Odd that we now ignore cancer, heart disease and all other morbidities, isn't it?
My brother in law died of prostate cancer 2 weeks ago. Never made the news....
