How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

Congrats to the young hunter! That's a hell of a first buck. A nice symmetrical 6-point and those shoulders will make some nice roasts. What kind of mount are you considering?

He was very excited and anxious to go tracking right away. I take the tracking part slow and very seriously. So it was hard to make him wait that 1/2 hour. 50 yards into it i figured we were good with the amount of blood, although i still stick to the 100yrd rule. He was ecstatic when he found him (hes 14yrs old). I couldn't imagine doing this at his age.
I tried to make this whole experience as fun as possible. Telling him to only shoot if hes steady and ready. I also told him to not be upset if he doesn't shoot. After a few close calls im glad he got it done. He was being hard and putting pressure on himself due to the close calls. So it worked out perfectly. I even let him drive the farmlane on the way out with his buck in the back of the truck (on private property). This is definitely a day him or i won't soon forget.
