Those are Brook trout, check out the square tail.
That lake is natural, it was never stocked.
If I can post pics you can see yesterday’s Splake with the fork in the tail.

I find the biggest thing is for the trout not to feel pressure when they bite or they will spit it out.
Those wood tip ups with door spring and plastic reel work well also, I seen them at Canadian tire.
I place split shot sinker 6 to 8" from hook and also go the same length (6-8") from bottom.
Change bait whenever it dies or stops moving around.
I use Trilene XL 8 lb. test mono line.

I went out today and yesterday with no bites. I am going to try next time with minnows. I didn't have any this time.

I went Saturday morning on a new lake for a couple of hours. Never got a single bite.
We only post our successful days out and not the days we get skunked. lol.
Fishing isn't a sure thing, so don't get discouraged.

That's exactly right. It's nice to be out whether fish are caught or not.

Well went for Lakers last Monday and caught 3 but forgot to take pic.
Went yesterday and caught 3 and missed two big ones. Man that hurts, still bad tripping.
Today I missed one and caught 2, mild but very windy, miserable on the lake.
Bought a little 4" Rapala, man these are handy to debone. Great to watch videos, you find new tricks.

Not so bad at all. I get the feeling of the big ones that get away.

Haven't been out in a while myself as this house has kept me busy. Snow is piling up and without a sled I will be on foot soon.

Sounds like a fun few days awesome job.

I've been slacking too haven't been out in a while lol. This week I will get out a couple days then March I'm just going to put a beatdown the whitties and jumbos lol.
