Not your average new Excalibur cross bow

Very interesting topic turned into more interesting conversation about hunting implements vs hunting implements vs hunting style ..etc.

Very interestingly-but not surprisingly,most of the posters here are looking at the arguments as: me versus you,my method versus Your method.
Also,not surprisingly,we have seen these arguments earlier-and the staunch proponents of long range shooting are the same ,as the "traditional"hunting proponents.
Also-we have seen arguments here with hunting over bait versus other methods of hunting.
We also had one similar debate few years back about long range shooting with rifle(or long range animal harvest).

Everything comes down to-me versus you,my method versus Your method.

But-if we look deep down,and want to be honest, there are two facts some miss to see :just because it is legal ,does not NECESSARY make it ethical-or Non ethical-for that matter.

Yet-the difficulty level of ethically harvesting an animal sets the two approaches apart.
As far i am concerned-neither traditional nor crossbow is a bad tool,as long as it is ethically used.

What some posters try to say-the "easiness"of crossbow shooting makes it more popular, but also more prone to take those shots ,which a traditional bow hunter would not take,thus increasing chances of wounding.
At the end-to each their own.

We are all hunters here-maybe we should try to go away from name calling the next guy(like elitist)
That is what nowadays most left leaning "interest groups"do, to silence "opposition".Mostly ,when they try to push their agenda set on "shaky"grounds.

I hope we are (at least most of us here)better then that.

One thing we're not mentioning is how in the world are you going to aim with this thing??? This thing is going to be so front heavy that it'll be nearly impossible to shoot it accurately without a rest. This style of crossbow was already a bit front heavy to begin with, now it's going to have two rails, two sets of limbs, two sets of string dampeners, and two bolts... The point of balance is going to be probably on the front 1/4 of the bow. Good luck hitting anything shooting offhand.

The weight is listed as being 7-3/4 lbs. Not sure how the balance on it will be but can check it out at Cabelas once the lockdowns are over.

But according to the MNR...the kills are counted as a 'Harvest" in regards to the Deer Management Plan. The hunt is conducted to cull the herd.

That's why the MNR call it the Annual Harvest report...Not the Annual Kill report...semantics between the killer and the farmer. HaHa..

IMO cull isn’t the appropriate word, I suggest that “manage” is more correct. Culling is when they have to reduce the herd due to over-population such as the situation at certain privincial parks a few years ago,

Same...culling is part of the MNR Deer Management Plan.

Without a scope 7 3/4lbs is heavy for a crossbow. The weight being at the front is my best guess. Usually the matrixes were a bit front heavy to begin with. Now you have two sets of limbs, an extra rail, and two bolts. It doesn't look like they added any weight to the back at all. But it's true, I won't know for sure until I get my hands on it.

Finally got my hands on twin strike yesterday I like the scope.
Think 420 td is on its way out the door. Lol

What did you like or not like about it. Personally I don't see the need for it but I am a huge fan of Excalibur and would love to hear your experience with it.

Well last two years I’ve had a Excalibur 420td
In those two year 4 deer 2 turkeys

Maybe I’m crazy.

Twin strike is actually a bit lighter weight wise

crank is a must have for me back is gone

Twin strike operates decock very much like the 420td. Only dual string
I like the safety both sides nice location
Scope is a great match
It really felt good shooting it.
Shooting is much quieter then the 420 buddy first words were it’s quieter then yours

First shot dead on second string I put it to the side so not to ruin their bolts

Plus I’m actually getting nice store credit on the deal. Dealer wanted my syrup sap evaporator tank equipment my sugar shack was destroyed last November in wind storm. Luckily the equipment came out with out damage

Sounds like 2 month wait. Dealer can’t sell the show room one
