You're a braver man than me, not using a safety gripper. I played roulette and now I'm officially a member of "the black thumb club " for letting my guard down and not using one all of the time. Same situation as you is what got me. Replacing a trap with a new one. Must have been a bit of frost on the striking bar or the dog. The Sauvageau (2001-7 fisher trap)fired as I was putting it in the cubby. The trap went "spank, spank, spanky" on Davey's thumb and Davey had some very foul "music" come out of his mouth. He desparately wanted to, but couldn't do what is known as the "holy f*&k " dance because he was attached to the run pole with the anchor wire. Had to cut the wire and take 4 minutes, one handed, trying to open the trap with scissors and his knee. Shattered the bone on the thumb joint. Thumb will never be right again. Saddest thing is I had the damn safety in my pocket! Hope your furs sell this year and you can make enough on them to cover your time in the bush. I think you should put a little micro dab of that rotten lure on your daughter's helmet chin strap when she's not watching! Please make sure you get her reaction on video.

Thank you Gibb and your daughter for taking the time to put these videos together. Being a non-trapper I find them fascinating and educational.
