Need a new decent flashlight

Not sure what all the hype is about Coast. I've found them to be a lousy product. Every one I've owned is toast after 1-2 years. Best deal by far for me- Amazon.ca - for about $50 bucks. Letion model LE -189D. You get two LED flashlights and the charger in the kit. Crazy bright on the high setting (1500 lumens. It works as a spotlight to half a km), adjustable beam, 4 modes (high, medium, SOS, and stobe). Good life on the battery. IPX4 waterproof rating. Solid aluminum barrel. Best light I've owned so far. I've had $200 LED Lenser lights that are inferior to these. I'll buy them again.

Just noticed this post GW. A friend of mine picked up 3 Bell & Howell Atomic Beam Tac lights and gave me one. I don't know what he paid for them but I've never seen any flashlight to match what this thing can do and I have had many Mag Lights of various sizes along with other brands.
Just Google Atomic Beam and you should come up with it. The light came with a throw away battery but I now have a rechargeable no. 5800mAh 3.7V for it. I suspect the price is about $30 - $40

I have a bit of an obsession with flashlights but I am nowhere near an expert. Thrunite is an excellent company for flashlights, I carry one everyday. I work on a maintenance crew and we all carry a Thrunite Tn12 that have been flawless over several years. They run on an 18650 rechargeable battery which gives excellent run times if you are not constantly running on turbo output. I have dropped it, used it in the rain, in high heat and low temps, never an issue. The newer version is the TC12 which doesn't even require a battery charger as it has a built in usb C charger. https://thrunite.com/tc12-v2/. I also have a thrunite headlamp that has been great.

There are a few things to consider though with the beam. There are typically "thrower" vs "flood" beams. Some lights offer a bit of both. For a general use flashlight a more floody beam is great. If you wan't something with more distance but some flood there are several in a "C8" form from different companies https://www.amazon.ca/Lumen-Convoy-C...5811073&sr=8-4. They are similar to the TC12 above but have a reflector size similar to the Maglights. I own one and it's great for dog walking as it throws several hundred yards but still fits in a jacket pocket.

Don't be afraid of the Chinese manufacturing anymore. Fenix makes a great light but at double the cost of companies that can produce a light that's just as good IMO (not a knock against Fenix). A few years ago I would not have thought that. If you can get yourself a decent charger you can start getting different lights with different batteries and you won't go back to the old C or AA lights when you see the performance difference.

I’ve had a coast light for 6 years plus and it has been great at a very reasonable price, I would also look at fenix as others have stated.
You can certainly spend $100-200 and get an extremely powerful flashlight from other brands.

Our company gives away logo-branded stuff at Christmas, flashlights are always a favourite, along with multi-tools & pocket knives

The only issue I see with that linked flashlight is its a double 18650 light. That would be rather long and not fit in a pocket very well. Something with one 18650 is ideal imo for a useful light (the one I carry everyday is that size as are most "every day carry" EDC lights. Very easy to find a holster for or carry in a pocket. Something like this linked one is the size I would prefer and though the lumens are bit less it is a very bright and useful light. Plus this is a very popular proven light with all items included. https://www.amazon.ca/Flashlight-Poc...2&sr=8-32&th=1The linke offering is very cheap for 2 lights and 4 batteries, you may want to pay a little more if it's something that is going to be your main light.

I find I like to have a few different lights in different sizes really small (14500 battery) to EDC's (18650 battery) and then a few bigger powerful ones (multi 18650 or 26650). I keep them stashed in different areas (truck, night stand, front hall) and when it's deer season I pack a headlight and a powerful search light. Most chargers will handle a variety of battery sizes and are very reasonable in price as are batteries now a days. It makes it easy to swap batteries around to specific lights or simply buy a few extra if you find a good deal.

I use a headlamp. Got it on sale on Amazon 2 years ago, this thing literally will light up a field if you want it to. Or you can bring it down to a narrow beam or a wide beam. Or use all 5 lights if you want to lol. Makes the walk to the stand a little less paranoid for me LOL20210318_133059.jpg
