    Default Preferred Shot Placement

Assuming a broadside deer like this:

I am typically an E/D7 kinda guy but have taken the C4 shot when circumstances are correct

Edit to add same deer but different view:

The deer I shot last year had an arrow right at your C4 placement,
It was there for a long time because the wound healed around the arrow, and left a bump.
Maybe a rifle would have taken him down but not an arrow.

C4 is rifle only for me - not an archery shot. The few times when this shot presented they were all bang flops and taken at 50 to 70 yards off a secure rest with a 3/4 MOA rifle.

Same as you species, with the exception being more towards F8 with a crossbow to account for the possibility of some string jump.

If the conditions are right (Bow or Rifle) my preferred 'go to' shot is B2...the most effective for a clean kill and drop them on the spot.

E6-E8 at ground level, higher from a stand.

I know you’ve said this before on here. I’m a D7 guy for sure. I decided last year to try the B2 if I get the perfect opportunity. Haven’t yet.
