I usually hit around C8 or C9, usually hit diaphragm and rake both lungs.

I prefer a quarter away, aim at D9 and the arrow will be stopped by shoulder on opposite side and the deer never goes more than 25 yards.

B6 or C6. Bang-flops every time. Every time. Zero exceptions so far.

I always aimed for E7/E8 area and only ever had one long-ish trailing job; 80-odd yards after a double-lung hit from a 12-gauge slug at 25 yards.
I read an article by John Barsness, which may have been called, "Where to Hit Big Game."
He advised that a hit 2/3 up the shoulder, versus the usual lower-one-third of the body, tended to produce super-fast, DRT kills.

I've used this shot on deer with results as-advertised. Deer dropped literally in their tracks; no short run, nothing.
Mind you, I've only shot a half-dozen deer this way, and none were beyond 50 yards. Cartridges were the .30-30, the .280 Remington, and the .257 Roberts.

One above A and one to the right of 1. Use a 22mag and one of those things they call "Q-beams". Tends to be a popular aiming point around my area, especially since the price of beef and chicken has gone through the roof.
