Those old Whiz Bangs were about 85 cents a box when I was a kid. We'd ride our bikes looking for pop bottles to get the money to buy them. If we were short we'd just buy a pack of Bulldog pellets. We all had single shot Cooey 39s and we walk the railway tracks, taking head shots on cottontail. No coyotes yet back then. You'd get your 6 rabbits in less than an hour. I remember shooting suckers and rainbow trout with those Whiz Bangs. Lethal if the water was less than 10 inches. Some days we'd shoot 8 to 10 trout, then sell them to the dude at the Chinese restaurant in town. Good cold hard cash money for buying RC cola, sponge toffee, popsicles, dill pickle chips, and Eatmore bars.

The ammo isn't prohibited, just the guns.

Where are you from?
Based on your misspent youth we may have gone to school together.
I did pretty much the same thing only the restaurant bought carp from us.

I grew up in the Courtice/Bowmanville area. It was a kid's paradise back then. Completely rural farming area with creeks full of brook trout and small game galore. So sad to say that it's completely been destroyed now. Now it's just a cesspool of concrete and strip malls. Just another part of Toronto. I can't even visit the area now as it makes me so sad to see that it's been destroyed. The Chinese foof restaurant used to be in Bowmanville. I often wonder how many diners died of cancer 20 years after from eating those 15lb photomirex trout!
