Went to our moose area today
I’m fortunate that I only live 45 mins away from our moose hunting area. The area is standing bush with ponds and meadows scattered throughout. There is also an old burn that is getting pretty thick with jackpine. One of my buddied and I took the 4-wheelers out for a spin today to see how the trails faired after the winter. There was still a bit of snow in the woods and there is still ice on the lakes. I brought my power saw along a cleared the dead falls and widen portions of the trail. The trail network amounts to 9.5 kms and there was moose poop all over the place. I also couldn’t believe how much the burn had been browsed over. Every shrub was chomped. Undoubtedly, there will be plenty of moose in the area next fall but we will have to see if we get a bull tag. Hopefully the wait won’t be that long,

Early season scouting is always fun. Good luck with the tag allocation draw.
