Default Open Letter from Retired Generals and Admirals

Excerpts of an open letter signed by over 120 top ranking US retired military commanders expressing their deep concerns with the current situation. There are many similarities with events in Canada as well.

"Our Nation is in deep peril. We are in a fight for our survival as a Constitutional Republic like no othertime since our founding in 1776. The conflict is between supporters of Socialism and Marxism vs.supporters of Constitutional freedom and liberty"

"Aside from the election, the Current Administration has launched a full-blown assault on our Constitutional rights in a dictatorial manner, bypassing the Congress, with more than 50 Executive Orders quickly signed, many reversing the previous Administration’s effective policies and regulations. Moreover, population control actions such as excessive lockdowns, school and business closures, and most alarming, censorship of written and verbal expression are all direct assaults on our fundamental Rights. We must support and hold accountable politicians who will act to counter Socialism, Marxism and Progressivism, support our Constitutional Republic, and insist on fiscally responsible governing while focusing on all Americans, especially the middle class, not special interest or extremist groups which are used to divide us into warring factions."

"China is the greatest external threat to America. Establishing cooperative relations with the Chinese Communist Party emboldens them to continue progress toward world domination, militarily, economically, politically and technologically. We must impose more sanctions and restrictions to impede their world domination goal and protect America’s interests."

"Censoring speech and expression, distorting speech, spreading disinformation by government officials, private entities, and the media is a method to suppress the free flow of information, a tyrannical technique used in closed societies. We must counter this on all fronts beginning with removing Section 230 protection from big tech."

"Stopping the Keystone Pipeline eliminates our recently established energy independence and causes us to be energy dependent on nations not friendly to us, while eliminating valuable US jobs. We must open the Keystone Pipeline and regain our energy independence for national security and economic reasons."

"Under a Democrat Congress and the Current Administration, our Country has taken a hard left turn toward Socialism and a Marxist form of tyrannical government which must be countered now by electing congressional and presidential candidates who will always act to defend our Constitutional Republic. The survival of our Nation and its cherished freedoms, liberty, and historic values are at stake"

What did you say when earlier, when 100 Generals said that trump was the greatest threat to the American people, and democracy, ever sitting in the white house? Believe those Generals, or just 'yours'? Trump fired General after General until he got the one that said what 'he' wanted. 'His' facts.

"Canada’s spy agency says that it “observed espionage and foreign interference activity at levels not seen since the Cold War” last year and that many security threats have become “much more serious.”

“The key national security threats facing Canada, namely violent extremism, foreign interference, espionage and malicious cyber activity, accelerated, evolved and in many ways became much more serious for Canadians,” warns Canadian Security Intelligence Service Director (CSIS) David Vigneault in the organization’s 2020 annual report."

His alarming conclusions were mirrored in a separate report also published Monday by the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP), whose mandate is to oversee Canada’s security and intelligence agencies."

“The threat from espionage and foreign interference is significant and continues to grow. Several states are responsible for conducting such activities in Canada, but intelligence shows that China and Russia remain the primary culprits,” reads the NSICOP report."

"Both reports point to a “sharp increase” in both the scope and scale of hostile activity towards Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic, which focused on our nation’s health care sector and research facilities."

“We were surprised to see the continuation of the threats around science and technology, and research and development in this country, particularly around COVID science and COVID vaccines. That jumped out at us,” NSICOP chair David McGuinty said in an interview.

"The agency also warns that some countries such as China are trying to “deceptively influence” the Canadian government to their benefit, namely by harassing, manipulating or intimidating various groups in Canada in order to either increase support for their policies or mute dissenters."

“An example of significant concern are activities by threat actors affiliated with the People’s Republic of China that seek to leverage and exploit critical freedoms that are otherwise protected by Canadian society and the Government in order to further the political interests of the Communist Party of China,” the report notes."

I don’t know how much time I have left on this planet. I suspect it’s going to blow. Ten years ago, I was confident after I was in the ground. Today, I think it will be in my lifetime. Maybe, as little as 5-10 years.

While this next statement is likely “unfair”, because like any marriage, breakdowns and divorce take two.

But, largely, the Left and progressives will be “too blame”. It’s their way, or the highway.

Presently, there are about 10 threads, about this or that. By and large, the common undertone are things of this nature.

Yesterday, I was talking to a nice older lady about “stuff”. She is defeated. She’s run a small restaurant, for years. She wants to sell, but can’t. Who is going to give her fair value? When we locked down in December, forget everything else ( customers, bills etc). She had a lot of food she spent her $$ on.
    Toast...
Today, she’s still giving away stuff that has shelf life..

Has she received a penny in compensation?

About a month ago, a letter from a real estate agent was being shared a wee bit on FB. Type of thing that should have gone viral. Shared by “everyone”. I can count on one hand how many did.

Open letters like this, or by the police on guard, by and large other groups.

    Fall on deaf ears.

May 15th and “freedom rallies”. Deaf ears, or outright opposition.

I wouldn’t put all my eggs in the “eve of destruction” basket. Look guys, simply put these are strange times. Everyone is walking a tight rope while trying to navigate through this pandemic. I can bet that various forums around the world are all discussing the same things of this nature. Once this pandemic is done things will be different. For best or for worst I’m Canadian and will live within the Canadian parameters, whatever they may be.
The more I think about it, the more I’m reminded of generations past that had the same things to say. Things like; the world is ending, the sky is falling, this or that government don’t know what they are doing, they are ruining the country, etc. Yes, it’s probably not going to be the same as it once was, but that’s not to say it will be horrible either. Things will just be different.
As we age we get stuck in a rut. We get use to the “same old” too much. Then we get angry, confused and intolerant of the change. While these are normal emotions, we need to step back and observe/reflect. Maybe the change is long overdue, maybe it’s for the better, maybe it’s not all that bad. Demographics change, and we can see it first hand within our neighborhoods. People’s taste for change becomes more evident. Governments need to adapt to the changing demographics to stay relevant, or risk becoming obsolete. It’s tough watching various governments make choices that disagree with you personally. But who is at fault? The government you may be rooting for just doesn’t know how to navigate the new Canadian reality. They need to change to make a difference.
I don’t believe our liberty is at risk, I don’t believe democracy becomes obsolete. I do believe too many people are sore about the pace of change, or that the change they want to see isn’t forthcoming and so they lash out. This is why we are seeing so many of these threads.

    I “don’t know” BB.

I doubt during our parents time, the polarization, discontent, divides, disenfranchisement and more were ever this bad.

I was just a toddler when Kent State happened. Wasn’t even born the last time the White House was stormed.

There’s more afoot than just Covid, lockdowns etc. We Canadians are docile. Protest across the pond are becoming more common, etc.
