    Default Big Tom Down!

I hunted a neighbour’s field for the first time this morning. While I was hunting the adjoining field, I was hearing lots of gobbles and any birds seemed to be coming to me from that area. On Thursday Afternoon I moved my blind to a tree about 100 yards from the woodlot.
This morning I got to the blind and had my decoys out by 5:00 am. I sat down and then realized I forget to bring my thermos full of fresh coffee. Around 5:30 I heard 2 birds gobbling from the woods near me. They sounded like they were on the ground. 10 minutes later, 2 nice Toms walk oust into the field. I gave a couple of soft calls and they turned and looked at my decoys. Next thing, they are heading straight to them. They weren’t coming really fast but did a beeline to them. I waited for them to separate then took one. Bird down at 5:50.
    24 pounds, 9 1/2 inch beard and 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch spurs.
The video was pretty dark so I videoed the camera screen with my phone.

Congratulations! Great bird! Nothing beats hunting where the turkeys want to be.
