Default Smart TV and the US open this weekend

So I am with Rogers, we don't have ignite tv (not available in my zone yet).... I have an Insignia Smart TV in my backyard. It has WIFI allowing me to pick up and watch Netflix, Prime and Roku TV channels. My question is there a way I can get the golf channel ( It is part of my rogers package) to play on my outdoor Smart TV as it only has wifi connection. It currently allows me to watch history, food and a few other channels only.
I was under the impression that I should be able to somehow connect to my rogers package but can't seem to figure it out or maybe it can only be done with Rogers Ignite.
Just trying to figure out how to watch the US Golf Open this weekend in my backyard without dragging my Rogers box and cables out there.
I tried calling them but I don't think they understand what I am asking.
    Thanks in advance.

So Fratri I use to have Express vu and got rid of it a few years ago. I use what they call an Android box just like a cell phone but you cannot call from it. You can get free app that you can watch everything on, but the apps go down quite often. I pay a company for what they cal IPTV and I get ever single channel in North America well over 250 channels maybe more Cost me 25 bucks a month but some places are cheaper my brother pays 10 bucks a month. Every movie every show and live tv and ever sports.

I have apple TV, on a regular TV.(not smart). I have an App called SoPlayer. I subscribe to DreamTV for about 35 bucks a month. It also has a ton of sports channels, all the usuals, plus Movie channels, history, etc. Etc….
I think you can add SoPlayer App. directly on a smart TV…then subscribe to DreamTV…

That may be my problem, my TV doesnt show me anyplace to download apps. Maybe its just too out of a smart tv to have that function, not sure so I will just continue to play around with it and search for a way....

not sure what exact smart tv you have, but if you click the home button you should be able to go somewhere to a search function, to search for apps movies tv shows etc.

can you get it on your phone possibly? if you have an android pull down from the top of your screen, then where your wifi button is pull down again, it should show you a bunch of other functions your android has swipe right it will show you more options, look for one called "smart view" click and hold on that it will open a screen and search for devices you are able to mirror your phone to, hopefully your tv shows up there.

another option is to connect a laptop to your tv outside via hdmi.

    oh here forget rogers,

hope one of those work arounds work for you, unless you already fragged the cable box outside haha.
