My mom always said pear trees have to be pairs
Also said grandma would hit trunk of fruit trees with back of a shovel soon as they thawed out in spring suppose to wake them up and produce more

Thanks guys, I was back in at the store today Queensway and 427 and they had all the apple tree's on sale from $79.99 down to $60.00 and half that price again. These are sturdy strong 6 ft tree's that should do well, I suggest a visit to your local CT as they are now getting ride of the tree's. They did have a few pear tree's left which were not pairs. ie Ajou and Bosc

Hell my neighbor cut his down a few years back cause it was yielding too much fruit... Isn't that always the way, feast or famine.
