    Default Bear hunting license question?

I was reviewing the regulations and as I have for many years purchased a bear license. I do hunt bear when I am at the camp with my wife. When we have the camp deer hunt I refrain taking a bear or even mentioning I have a tag as somebody without a tag decides to use it. Not all participants in the deer camp purchase bear tags. I always understood that to party hunt all participants must possess a tag for that species. When I read the regulations it states “black bear tag or be party hunting with a person who has a valid bear tag. Now I interpret this two ways, A my buddy has a tag and I can hunt with him not possessing a bear licence or tag, or B I have used my tag, and I can hunt with him and harvest using his tag.
To stay out of trouble I am inclined to continue my current practice and hunt by my self or with someone who possesses a licence and tag

    Black bear hunting requirements

Anyone wishing to hunt black bear must have the following:

    • Outdoors Card
    • black bear licence listed on your licence summary
    • black bear tag or be party hunting with a person who has a valid bear tag
    • proof of firearm accreditation if you are hunting with a gun

In addition, non-residents are also required to have a black bear hunting validation certificate.

In order to hunt Black Bears,we need a license under all circumstances. Understand that big game licenses come in two parts---the license AND the tag. Once the tag is used,we may party hunt with other hunters who also have Black Bear licenses, but, under no circumstances may anyone other than a LICENSED BB hunter take the bear for the group. That's what makes hunting Bear with hunters with Deer licenses, only, problematic if someone who knows you have a tag decides to shoot a bear and then give you a call expecting you to tag the animal. It's important to discuss the fact with camp members beforehand to avoid misunderstandings which seem to happen with some people who don't think it through for one reason or another. I know this because we ran into a group not too long ago who made that mistake, got into a huge arguement and ended up getting pinched with OPP sorting things out in short order (long story short). The fines were substantial when they got to court. There's zero tolerance for mistakes.

If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Just look at the 2nd requirement on your list. "Black bear license listed on your license summary." Only was to get that is to buy the license. If you don't have that you don't hunt bear.

#2 - Must have a black bear license

License and tag are not the same thing.

If you're deer hunting over bait also make sure you're following the regs for bear baiting if you plan on taking one. 30m from a road, 400m from a dump, 500m from a building.
