Video: Pileated Woodpecker Drilling for Insects (Ottawa, Nov. 14)
Hello All,
Filmed this male pileated woodpecker earlier today while out checking cams. Always neat to watch these big birds drill into trees to find some juicy morsels.
Cheers,
Justin

Beautiful bird! Thanks . I wonder what the future is for this bird ? The ivory-billed woodpecker is now extinct. Saw a pair of pileated in Florida once.

Thanks, Sharon. Hard to say. They are fairly common around these parts, but then again, I'm guessing the ivory billed was in its day. Fingers crossed they never run into trouble.
