Went from chasing squirrels and wrestling with sticks to skin and bones in 8 weeks.... F Cancer again.

Very sorry to hear that. I well known the heartache that comes from a dog's death. Still worth loving a dog though imo. You had 11 good years with her.
Mine also has cancer , but the very slow growing kind.... apocrine sweat gland cancer. Been a year and a half now and he's still bopping around. Has ALC surgery next week ; the vet will check first to see if cancer has spread.

Research says we take the loss of a dog harder than the loss of a special human. If we lose a human, we have channels for grieving -- funerals, memorials, grief counseling. When we lose a dog, there are no avenues to come close to being able to grieve that loss appropriately. With people, we can speak with them, tell them we love them, say all the things we want or need to say. With dogs, they are so terribly special and we always wonder if they knew how much they mean to us.
This loss will hurt, and it will take inexplicably long to sort out your grief. Don't feel dumb. Loss is loss. You had a special bond and you'll need to let yourself sort through how crappy you feel. Dog people get it
